job searching
Anyone know any good recruitment agencies that are actually worth the effort?
I started my job in November and love it! It's working in London city, working for a big medical research company run by the goverent. However my boss is a total twat, she does no work, surfs the net all day and basically doesn't give a shit! She's meant to be training me up but Instead she expects me to do most of the work!
Short of cracking her over the head with anything heavy that comes to hand I have tried every thing!
So I think the next best thing is to look at new jobs!!
So any agencies or sites people recommend?
I live in south cambs and commute, don't mind travelling a little way but not hndreds of miles!!
Thanks xx

if youve no specific profession then just the usual "jobsite", monster etc will do. Some professions have thier own more specific job web sites.
TBH bypass most recruitment agencys as they are mostly shit at the moment, and thats more because they are usually over subscribed but with not enough jobs to go round. There will be a few more local "executive/management" orientated agencys in your area if thats where you are at career wise, but again its the same problems with lots of people wanting few jobs, but generally the more professional agencys dont fuck you around quite so much where as your average job agency will.

Every agency is different you will find....you want someone who actually knows what they are talking about not a trainee with a speech sheet in front of them which is what you may get.
what work do you specifically do?

I do have a specific profession, I'm a data manager for a large internation phase 2/3 double blinded randomised drug trial for radiation resistant ovarian cancer!
And would like to stay in the science industry as that's where most of my experience is unless something apealling came up

so license to print free money then
I dont get how she is not being bought up on her actual performance rather than just the complaints. or is she claiming all your work as her own???
You need to convince IT to put a keystroke logger and track what shes upto on her pc so she gets in trouble that way.
Nobody else has said it, but its not the best time to be changing jobs unless youve got skills that are REALLY in demand else where.
Just dont do anything too rash and dont hand in notice until youve signed contract in another job.

Warren not being nasty hunni but working for the government is not like working for a comercial company! There are proceedures after proceedures you can't just sack some one for the sack of it and you certainly can't go to it to demand something is done as they would just laugh at me if I don't have a managers approval!
As for the changing jobs, I know, but thanks

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I would be very carefull with this approach, if you are as good at your job as you think and she is as bad at hers as you claim, people will notice this, going above her head is frought with the possibility of back firing on you,
Head down do you job as best as possible and let her dig her own grave, the right people will eventually see your efforts

Mike that rarely works as anything government run/financed will generally find it very hard to get rid of someone for simple performance failure, especially management as theyve always got thier team below them to blame. Getting her thrown out for breaking rules is the better approach IMO as also such organisations are vetted by outside authorities so have to "be seen" to discipline when rules are broken.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Personally I wouldn`t complain at all, I`d be happy not to have some knob breathing down my neck every day. I`d happily work away and let them mess on their computer, personally if I was the boss I`d be at the same. Put your head down and get to work and dont worry. It`d be far worse if you had a boss that was on your case all the time that YOU weren`t doing enough work.

Yea maybe but it's swings and roundabouts really! Not having any recognition etc is so demoralizing and not having any support to teach me things!
I have complained but not much has been done!
I seeker advice from a friend high up in the company and she's said use it to my advantage for now learn everything I can from the way things are and then apply for a promotion! I don't want to leave as I enjoy the job so guess il go this route for now!
