Default running problems URGENT

on a probe 2 litre 16 valve engine runs fine and if you rev it smoothly it is fine but if you accelerate hard or push throttle down it does not rev just miss fires and makes a big bang any ides it my cousins car and he stuck for ideas

my first thoughts were maf sensor would just unplugging it make a improvement or can they be tested?

If it drives ok (just a bit rough) with it unplugged then it's your culprit. It's ok to drive it to test with the MAF disconnected, but don't drive for miles and miles like it.

My old Celica did that, seem to remember it was the leads breaking down under load or dodgy plugs... anyway, serviced it and it went fine after that.

just told him to try that he stuck away for night so i can't get to look at it and not bein too familiar with this engine i stumped but thanks for the reply you fixed the diff yet on yours?

he fitted new leads plugs and even a new dizzy at 140 quid it fine if you drive it staedy just won't rev and pops and bangs if you press the throttle on saharp even only a small part off the throttle
