Is this any good (Radio Controller Car)...
Hi everyone, Im looking to purchase a radio controlled car for me and my son to play with over summer. We go walking through the local woods to walk the dog, so thought this would keep him entertained on the journey. My question is, is it any good? and is it worth the money?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=390027436229
I want something we will have fun with that can go in the woods and over rough terrain. Would prefer it not to run out of battery life in 10 minutes and don't fancy carrying a bag full of batteries or fuel, etc unless really needed. Have £300 to spend.
Anyone got any other suggestions?
Thanks

go for a petrol one
last longer on fuel as opposed to nitro
something like this

I dont like them myself, they are rrubbish and have a 21 size engine on it which isnt great.
You're much better of buying a 2nd hand car in my opinion, you'll get a 10x better car usually with toolboxes full of extras too...
What's your budget?

How old's your son? 'Cos they're fast. If he's quite young just get a Tamiya electric monster truck. They're cheap and fast enough. You'd only need to carry a spare 7.2v battery with you.

As above, petrol is all good and well but when they play up u end up getting proper stressed specially if your out somewhere!! more for someone whos used 2 RC cars.
As said a batt monster truck is a good idea, few spare batts and even if its not quite quick enough an eletric speed controller and uprated motor and should be fine!!!
Like yodi said thou you can get some good second hand ones out there that dont cost a fraction of what u would pay and have already had bits done to them etc!

Professional Waffler
My brother recently sold his one of these. Goes like buggery but seemed to spend more time on it's roof than driving about. Good fun but maybe a bit much for a kiddie to get used to.

Suggest you look on the Ansmann website, they are a relativley new company but are proving to be very good in the market. They are made in Germany but parts and spares are cheap and available on the Internet and many local Model shops.
I personally have had an Ansmann Virus and Ansmann Vapour - both excellent cars with .28 engines - very quick! As someone else said if the kids young anf your looking for a nitro car, make sure there is somewhere you can take it that is very open. Up the woods and down the local park can be nightmare for smashing into Trees and generally getting chased by dogs. HTH

Id go for the one your looking at. But they are fast and i spent more time reparing it than playin with it due too wrapping it around trees in the park I also used to have the schumacher nitro fusion. which are capable of 70mph but tarmac only!

If you do decide to go for the one you have mentioned then register on their website and you might get a bigger discount.
Remember when new to do the running in on the engine properly, also look into 1/8 or 1/7 scale. Easier to control than a 1/10 and they have a bigger fuel tank so more running time.
