A while ago there was a quite an uproar about excessie bank charges.

Back then I went through all 6 years worth of statements only to get to the end and find the decision is on hold.

That was about 2 years ago - anyone know if this has moved and whether they are accepting claims now?

supposedly another ruling has happened i was told and its going in favour of the customer not the banks, im sure someone in the financial sector on here will be able to give more insight?

i phoned the bank a few months ago and they said the decision was still at the courts.

House of Lords appeal on Charges Judgement to be heard on 22nd June 2009

Despite the Master of the Rolls telling the banks they have "no chance", the fight is set to continue. The House of Lords have granted permission to appeal.

so does this mean that i have to re go through my statements so they are upto date 6 years back? As i did these originally 2 years ago which would make them go back 8 years in total.

i'm sure it was on watchdog this week

bloke claimed unfair cc charges
then claimed the intrest @ the rate he was being charged
bank settled out of court for Ł4.5k

cause the test case is still going on all claims are on hold with the courts and FSA only where financial hardship will a case be heard i think

they are on hold at moment mate, put your letter in etc saying how much they owe u, and if they loose the case u will be repaid.

i claimed back mine few years ago, but now its awaitng court case.

you can still claim back PPI etc on credit cards and loans if you had some, me mate just claimed back 9k

I think ive only had a penalty for Ł30 once when my mortgage came out 3 days before I got paid.

Apparently even if you specify a date they can still take it out at anytime of the month....

Is there really that many people overdrawn??

As far as i know its still on hold, and even if the banks lose the case they can appeal. Basically it's going to be dragged out for quite a while yet i reckon! Fucking wankers, they take it away, but they don't want to give it back! See it time and time again.

When i was a bit younger with zero responsibilties I paid a lot less attention to things like bank charges, and going over my overdraft limit didn't bother me, as long as i could get hold of enough money to put petrol in the car and go out all the time i didn't care. As a result I incurred something in the order of Ł3000 in bank charges over a 6 year period

Now i check my bank account online to see what's going in and out EVERY SINGLE DAY! Obviously 3 grand suddenly appearing in my account would be most agreeable, so i hope this gets resolved!
