you obviously not read my post correctly

and to reply to what you just said, why the fook would you buy cheap fooking shit oil then, when you spent that much on an engine,

my 205 has 45quid oil in it, and to replace my engine complete is Ł300

some people

want the earth, by spending peanuts, then complain when it breaks

I believe that oil is made by comma the same people that make Mobil1.

http://www.commaoil.com/Product%20Pages/oilsnlubes.htm do a google search for it too theres some discussion on it on scooby forums.

I'm using it atm in my CVH, seems fine....

I rate Halfords oil and would definitely use it.

IMO it's as much about the regularity of the oil changes, and not just about using a 'fashionnable brand'

cossies when they came out ran on 20w50.
Those tolerances still apply.. Besides if you havent run the engine in yet then you just need some basic 10-40 to bed the rings in. then change to a decent oil such as
mobil 1 15 50, or pro s 60

If this is a new engine (re-bored/new rings) I would NOT want to be running synthetic oil to run it in. If you need advice just call Ian.

Millers do a specific running in oil designed to help everything break in - alternatively, mineral oil is the only other thing i would use...

erm, 5/50 and 15/50 would be the same at 90 deg...

but the 5/50 would be thinner (so to speak) when cold..

100 miles mate is not enough.. you should be using a mineral 10/40 to run it in to help prevent glazing up the cyclinders, if not then its only going to smoke then its pistons out again new rings and hone ect. i just done my engine like you and spent a small fortune, but on the note of not spending Ł75 on good oil its better to put what is recomended than a cheap oil that going to cause greater problems later on. As JTECHSAPH mensioned 500 miles is a good amount of milage to run in the engine, dont let it come on boost and keep speeds to a max 60-70mph, i have only done just under 200.. ill change at 250 for more mineral then do another 250miles.. i got my final oil ready to go in Valvoline 10/60 VR1.

theres no way id put cheap oil in after spendin 2+ grand rebuilding.. if someone said oh you need oil that going to cost Ł100 ill be putting it in, moneys no option. look after the engine and it will look after you

you need to use a little boost when runing in, nursing the engine will not help the run in process.

use 10psi, and limit revs to around 4.5k, but do use it, the boost pressure will act on the rings, and force them into the cylinder walls

there's a good read in the techical area about running in an engine

https://passionford.com/forum/showth...hlight=running

as Jtech says, dont drive off boost, you do need to let the car come on boost as normal but dont over stress it
