Oh dear oh dear, he told a few porkies to the stewards. Shame but I guess rules are rules. Not ideal for an incumbent World Champ to behave like that. I blame McLaren for pressuring him into it

Good news for toyota, bad news for the sport yet again though IMHO, I really hate that so much of it is decided away from the racetrack.
I used to like it when it was down to what happened on the tarmac that determined the outcome.

Toyota really came out on top there; Trulli back in third and Glock remains in 4th.

To be honest, I cant really remember when politics of some sort or another hasnt decided who wins the title, certainly it has played a huge part in the sport since the early 80's, it's just these days with more information available to us we get to know a bit more of whats going on

We have more overturned places recently AFTER the event, than we ever did in the past from my recollection.

He has been qouted as saying he was told to let Trulli past, so what exactly is this startling new evidence to say he lied?

I see the Hamilton bashers are out straight away...

Don't think I'll bother watching it live anymore seeing as you can't trust the result.

Agreed

IMHO if they are going to make decisions on rule breaking after one event, the penalty should be applied for the next event.
So that the people you sew win on the day, are the ones who win on the day in all cases.

Anything before the race should effect that race, anything after the race should effect the next race.

Although I must confess I havent really thought through what happens on the last race of the season, LOL

That wasnt really the point I was making but I also dont think there's that much more dq's 'after the event' these days, just different reasons. I remember lots of overturns/dq's for illiegal fuel etc back in the day. Also you could argue theres a lot less stupid black flags these days which can really ruin the race and even be made for the wrong reason and are pointless to appeal!

The problem over the last few years has been this stupid thing of applying a stop/go penalty after the race has ended, and using the loophole of a team not being able to appeal a stop go once the race has ended! I think the stewards need to be able to make quicker decisions but in this case with Hamilton, as it was right at the end of the race I fail to see what else could have been done. He cheated his way to third so HAS to be dq'd. It's nothing to do with the following race.

oh, I see so now after race drive through's are appealable?

This is getting stoopid. Why don't they just run the whole championship, then after the last race, remove everyones points and draw straws.

The FIA (stewards) didn't do their reseach well...

Stewards : what happened?
Jarno Trulli: Lewis slowed down so I passed him
Lewis Hamilton: No I didn't
Stewards: ah then you get a 25 sec penalty Jarno
JT: but look at his laptime, it's slow
Stewards : no thank you we believe Lewis
JT: but look at the video
Stewards: no thank you we believe Lewis
JT: but at least listen to the teamradio
Stewards: no thank you we believe Lewis
JT: but but this is a podium, look at his telemetry please
Stewards : no thank you, we believe Lewis, now please leave

And then a week later they find out that Lewis lied. While they could have listened to the teamradio last week and found out themselfs what McLaren told Lewis.

The best option was to just give Trulli the 3rd place and Hamilton the 4th.
