Default any golf pro's on here?

after a bit of advice please.

me and my brother have recently started playing golf, we've both improved quite a bit since starting, him more than me as he plays alot when he should be working . the problem we are both having is that most of the time when using a driver (teeing off and on the range) the ball will go straight for about 100 yards then vere off to the right.

could this be a problem with our stance or maybe the swing. i have suggested a lesson or two but he is against this as his mate had a few lesson and now plays worse than before.

any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Lessons with a good Pro. Its a swing fault and you swinging out to in and cutting across the ball imarting spin on it.

Have a word with a few people at the range who seem to know what there doing, just ask them who they would reccomend for some lessons.

Lessons are the best thing you can do, honestly. Something as simple as the wrong grip can bugger everything else up.

It is called a slice and is common in the majority of players/amatuers. It is a number of things that is wrong, setup, takeback etc but the main fault is usually over backswinging causing the head to lift thus havening to drop again on the downswing causing an out to in arc! Very complex is the golfswing. The best way to learn is A: leave the driver at home and use a max of a 3 wood, drivers are not for beginners! B: Learn to hit a draw this will help remove the slice! C: Get some lessons while you are still 'green' before loads of bad habits creep in!
Im not a pro but suffered with a bad slice for years! Still get it now n then although i aint played much in the last 12 months! I used to play off 10....

as sad a few lessons should help,
i still sometimes get a slight slice but usually when i try to murder the ball
have to relax and let the club do most of the work but its not always that easy when youve just walked off the last green with a 7 or 8

SLICE! FORE RIGHT!!!

easiest shot in golf, bar none, i can slice at ball at will every single time if i wanted to!

DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE OTHER THAN A PROFESSIONAL!! AND A GOOD ONE AT THAT!!

where are you based and i will see if i know anyone near you?

i can coach, but only juniors,

95% of the time, any amateur that offers advice will tell you something that works for THEIR golf swing, NOT yours

a good pro will make something work for your swing!

i play of 4 and have a degree in golf management, studied every day (mostly just playing) golf for 3 years, the one subject on here that i do know a lot about!

hmm celtic manor then (joke)

ring around your local courses, get someone who is fully PGA qualified and has a few years experience really! expect to pay around Ł25-30 an hour, make sure they know that you are a beginner

you might even be able to get a joint lesson with your friend, which should bring the cost down !
