a rev limit will prevent the fuel from being ignited, but its still possible to make it rev way past the limit by doing exactly what the lad did on the motorway (5th -2nd)
you can go and try it yourself, but i wouldnt recommend it!
So if I lift the front of my car up with the engine running, and spin the wheels by hand, will my revs go up? I know I couldn't physically do this, but if I could, would they? I think so, as everything is connected? Also, if my engine is switched off and I roll down a hill, do my pistons and what not still go round? Again, it's all connected still.

P.S Sorry for the thread hijack.
Of course the revs would go up if it was in gear. Why do you think the revs increase when you coast down a very steep hill?
