Can you run TB's on standard management and the same injectors?
I.e basically just replace then inlet system with individual TB's and use the standard TPS and original injectors, would this cause a massive problem?
i.e if the car ran no MAF, but lambda.
Just talking hypothetically here, on any car, not cossy or ford specific at all.

Not one im familiar with, which motronic revision is it?
Is it on a resistance based TPS sender (beleive it or not some are just on/off!)
Does it have an airflow meter?
Whats your reason for wanting TB's in the first place
(If its cause you think they sound nice, that gets lost if you have to pipe them back into a single airflow meter)

Stu @ MSD would be the one to talk to about that particular engine I suspect mate, drop him a PM.
I see no reason why not though.
You can normally (on most management) delete the AFM by just unplugging it and then remapping the limp home table for AFM estimate based on TPS and RPM.
Bear in mind though, its likely to cost more than just using aftermarket management, but if you are in a race series that insisted on using the original ECU, it would be a good option.
Ive done it both via the limphome table method and via a shared plenum for the 4 TB's that fed through the standard AFM.
So essentially its doable on pretty much any engine, just dont expect it to work at its optimum without being mapped of course!

well the engine is going in my mk1 golf, so wont be running until for a while.
just lookin at my options really , dont really want to go the TB's and management route for so little gains, i.e like 20-30 HP, for the cost of over 1k, when a 20VT engine is that, so looking for cheap options to squeeze as much power out of the engine for as little cost as possible, so remove all restriction in inlet and exhaust if possible, i.e inlet, and cat etc etc etc

I'm at a bit of a cross roads with my tuning. 1.8 blacktop zetec running pretty much Stage 2. 145bhp, 127 ft.lbs of torque. 3 options:
1) Carry on N/A tuning
2) Get a blower
3) Get something with bigger bollocks
I love the sound of it now on the high lift cams it really does sound fabulous! N/A though is fuck all torque which is annoying. Turbo is by far the best option for gains but going to be costly for me to implement although I do fancy a DIY installation but haven't the time or resources to do one. Would be a proper NOOB job as well but first time for everything and I like getting my hands dirty. At the moment though, I doubt I'll spend much more on my car. Will keep building no claims touch wood and own an RS of some description in a year or two if Jap hasn't totally gotten under my skin

chip, im not turboing this engine, this is going to be my "ring" engine.
i have another engine a 20VT 286bhp engine for the other stuff.
just want to get the car up and running and finished and the 16v engine is a drop in convertion. so that will do for now, power to weight with puts at about 200 per tonne.

Chip,
Should have guessed you would have something to say...
I havent done business for at least 3 years now so keep recycling if it makes you happy.
And yes, you are quite correct in what you say

funny guy.
well obviously it will need mapping
let me know then, TB's would deffo be going on if so.
as those at no CAT is about 180 with a inlet cam change.
