easiest way to get files off a laptops hard drive?
laptops died i think the screen or somins gone, but theres some files i need in a folder that was on the desktop can i get at them? do hard drives fit all laptops? it was a advent 5401
oh and secondly are any parts worthwhile removing and putting on ebay etc?

It may physically fit into another laptop but unless the mainboard chipset is the same then it wont boot up. TBH the easiest way is to connect it to the second channel on a desktop PC.

I wouldnt be too sure windows wont boot.
Seems so on and off as to whether different specs allow windows to boot.
I once changed a motherboard and chip to amd setup from intel and windows booted fine on existing HD.
Then another time i installed new ATI graphics card and needed a Restore.
It seems to be just the luck of the draw.
Dont forget a lot of chipsets on cheaper Laptops/Motherboards (advent) are so similair anyway that it may not make a difference.

Yes it is possible but doubtful.

the laptops 4 months old heres the spec although it doesnt say anything about hard drive make
