Default Am i being too picky...........

I seem to having such a hard time trying to find a decent van to buy!!!!

Im looking at LWB movano's around 2004-2005's between £3k-£4k, and every one i go and see that are described as 'excellent' or 'mint' on the phone, seem to be covered with dents, scrapes and all sorts once i get there!

Then when i question the sellers description i get the usual 'well its mint/excellent/decent for a van' or 'for its age', and then give me a funny look as though im the wierdo!!!!

Why and how some of these vans can get into such a state after only 4 years of use is beyond me! Are they all driven by total and utter donkeys or what!?!?!?!

Now of course i expect the odd small bit here and there, but if anyone knows where theres an 'excellent' movano thats fits my criteria and has actually been treated well for the last 4 or so years, feel free to PM me.

its a van mate. if it aint on its last legs its been treated well.

What youre looking for is private business owner that delivers plants in it or something and had it boarded out from new.

That would prevent all the dents.

Remember if the person aint paid for it they generally treat it like shit.

Yeah i know mate thats what im thinking too. I need to be looking at ones from private sellers who actually care about the van they drive. Problem with buying company vans is that most of the time they are driven by different people so they just abuse them i suppose.

What i cant understand is that even if it isnt their van, how can they be so crap on the bodywork? Im not just talking dents from the inside, im talking big fook off scrapes and bashed sills. Are they driven by muppets or just really bad drivers?

Put it this way if they worked for me and treated their vans like some of the ones ive seen they'd be sacked on the spot!

I used to work for someone who only dealt in vans, the state some of them came in was shocking for a van say only 2-3 yrs old.I currently own a 2000 X Iveco its covered 130,000 and its pretty much mint, very clean inside mint panel wise but its a 2.8 non turbo and its only a swb.I was going to part ex it for a Yplate Turbo mwb semi high top with 190,000 and its a bit battered which the guy paid £1200 for.I knew he would want a drink out of it,he wanted £800 and my van the cheeky bastard without seeing it.It is really hard to find a decent van thats only had light use.I think they do the Movano in a city van, dont bloody buy one of those.Really low geared and shit on fuel on a run.The only reason I was gona sell mine is as its too low geared it does about22mpg and at 70mph its not to happy.

Ill let you know how i get on mate. Do you know if they offer any sort of warrenty or does it depend who has put them in the sale? Im sure i heard of some places giving a 24 hour warrenty a few years ago.

not sure on the vans at the mo matey,on the cars you can get manheim assured which is a 3 day warrenty from manheim and any probs take it back. not many have that but big groups do. the manheim van sales i go to are sold as seen but i have had raving mint vans and they are sold as is.
i would make sure you only buy a van from a major vendor like a leasing company who don't tart the vans up and try and make the shit look better. you will see somthing you like i'm sure. heres a top tip from me to you,if you see summat you like and wonder the price of it just pop over to the reception and ask the girl on the counter what the vans reserve is, they tell me when i ask.

i have had loads of vans out of manheim and its a very good place to find a good van.

if you need any more info i'll gladly help you. if you want to know any trade prices of the vans i posted i can get the info, just ask.

Well i went to manheim leeds and ended up bidding on a tidy 56 plate LWB. I thought i had it at £3200, then it started to go crazy with the online bids. Ended up at £3750 (plus the vat). Still a cheap tidy van in my opinion, but more than i wanted to pay really (or more than i have to spend more like ). Ill be going to the next one for sure if they have some others. I know now that ill easily be able to get a tidy 2004-2005 model for well below my budget from there if or when some turn up. Cheers cozzfather

No probs S1 , if you had a day out and nearly got a decent van and liked the experiance you will get one next time.

i know loads of self employed lads who when needing a van go to bca or manheim because theres so much choice. maybe you could try bca brighouse which is up your neck of the woods too.
if you need any more of them lists and the cap trade prices just give me a shout
