Yep, 9.5 inches, with 265 wide D02G rubber.

Grip is less of an issue now

Everyone on the MLR seemed to like that car too. Nice colour and wheel & carbon combination.

Shame it's not my car, only the wheels are mine

My brother's Evo looks the same as the one above when he has my wheels on, so recreating the above picture is quite easy here!

not exactly what you want but here is my 9 Gt on 18" alloys (horrible Dare alloys) and also back to its standard mitsi 17" alloys.

I reckon they are best left as standard...

you'll soon understand what the fuss was/is all about and then you will be asking yourself why you spent so long driving a crappy old Ford! (well thats what I did having thought Cossies were the best thing ever, until I drove an evo)

+1 it's the only thing that put's me off a skyline, still a nice looking car though a skyline that is unfortunately lads an evo is just too common imho, every one seems to have or had one, not saying they arent quick just not my sort of car

that is all

and it's just such a shame they don't make a 3 door it would be beautifull then and a nice place to sit instead of stuffed behind a poxy little door, then again i'm 6'4" so notice it more than others

i went to a drift day today at Oulton ark and the evos there today were excellent, could not see a 4x4 cosworth doing what they were doing all day long without poping a driveshaft or something.

i was impressed.

Haha! how you doing benni hows the POF going i haven't forgotten about helpin you with your profile just been soo busy with work and that date went well with that girl off there so been chatting to her alot recently

and yea i can imagine they are a good car to drive i just hate the fact loads of people have them but i'm weird like that exactly why i wouldn't have any other escort apart from a mk5, admitted i might get a chance to drive one in my new job i'm getting to test drive every viehicle you can think of, well if someone crashes it i'll prob's get to drive it

and i will report so far a new supercharged mini has been the best fun to drive then the 1.8t A3 but i've only had a taster of what's out there and i didn't rate the 330D soft top that i had a go in it was a bit of a mellon tbh lol

but you do have to admit the evo would be stunning if it was a 3 door if they made a version like they did with the scooby P1 it would fly out of the show rooms, and i'd have one too when i saved up for a couple of years that is

lol i never said they where rare just not no where near as many about as alot of other cars well the proper mk5 not the mk5b or nothing, and if you looked for one now you would be hard pushed to find one straight off in a 3 door, i haven't seen another one like mine around i no there is but i honestly see more evo's and scooby's than i would a mk5 esco, you have got to agree there mate

not all cars are rare for a reason,,,, just like i dont see many people sporting puma's on there feet these days either

the build quality of the MK5 escort is what made them rare,, the fact they was also a pony car to drive, own and generally look at made them rare,,, just like flares and bell bottoms

lol where i have said it is a rare car, i no it's not rare i would like to see my quote of "yea my mk5 is rare and a really good drive" , it is true there isn't as many as other mk escorts about that was my point i haven't gone for a mk7 say witch there is shed loads of them out there, i wouldn't have a e36 beemer niether cos it's the same i'd rather have an e30 i'm not saying it's rare just not as many about now and that is what i prefer, i even see more mk2's and 1's on this site than none messed with mk5's.

and who said a rare car is a drivers car i bet alot of classics and rare cars are like a shed on wheels to drive but that doesn't stop them from being rare. again not calling my mk5 rare

i also never said my esco was a better drive than an evo i no they are a good drive i just also think there is a lot of computing power going on to help you drive it and i prefer it was more left down to the driver than a box under the dash, you get more of a feel of a car that isn't controlling you

does that mean your escort also dont have ABS as a option and also dont have power steering either

ps: evos are more than just a computer,, the actual car handles very very very well and the computer helps assist it, you couldnt wack a computer in a,,,,,,,,,,, well MK5 escort and it would handle, the actual car would need alot of work doing to it first

no my mk5 esco doesn't have power steering so i get a good feel of the road and neither does it have abs, so put that in your pipe and smoke it

and i'm not slating the evo i just think that it does have a lot of computing going on it has active diffs so there must be a lot going on there, just with all the ranting that goes on with them if you turned the chips off then i'm sure it wouldn't be as good as before but it's computers is what makes the car.

and sometimes it's not always about speed and more about grin factor which you get more from a car that is less controlled by itself, if i was to enter into a race then an evo would be a good choice but if it was just to have pure fun in then i would prob's choose differently

every one has their opinion, just mine is different to yours

Have to agree I find that 17's givie the car a better feel on the road - I've bent an 18inch Compomotive wheel on one occasion and wrecked the tyre on another wheel fitted with a 40 profile tyre on another, the roads are in a shocking state just now - I do love bigger wheels like the Rotas etc though.

i recon hes right tbh,,,,,, just hes been ripped off by a "jap specialist" like so many others are

and bobbles... drive a few cars,,,,,, honestly do that as i would wager the repair bill on my impreza that you WONT be driving your red mk5 escort in 2 years,,, or even in 6 months if you had 10k spare to spend on a car !

just like all these people who would never own a porsche,,, ferrarri and prefer there escos,,,,, or them that say if they won the lottery they would still work,.......... they are happy with what they earn and dont wanna be rich and the rich people who say " i would give up everything to get my ........... back,,,,

we all say it as we DONT have the choice,,,, but given the choice,,,,,,, well thats different in i would say 80% of the time

Why not just keep quiet about things you know nothing about?

Quick Reply: anyone got pics of an evo 8 with rota alloys on.
