Default question regarding increase in rent ??

right, at the end of last year wegot a letter from our letting agents saying our rent was going up by 25 quid a monthfrom the 15th of jan (rent date)

upto now they havent took the extra rent out now for 2 months lol but where do we stand with this ?

its not upto us to change the amount because they set it up but once they do realise are they entitled to take the extra out because they gave us notice of the increase ?

help lol...........Matt

I didn't think they could increase your rent during the contract period?

They legally have to give you 2 months notice of a rent increase.

Think yourself lucky though because our old landlord turned up at our door demanding a Ł100 a month increase starting from the following day! We don't live there anymore

Is it setup as standing order coz if it is then u would have to be the one who adjusts it. If its direct debit then the agent adjusts it. Not too sure how it would stand tho as they havent taken any so would prob best to ring local c.a.b for advice.

If a landlord did that to me id tell them to get fucked too Then wait a month for eviction to get to court then 28 days to move as on the eviction notice. Some landlords are right criminal muppets.

Total rubbish. Mine was increased a while back. I pay Standing Order and the agent changed it, not me.
