Internet Explorer VS Others
Right ho.,
I use my laptop for a few things, downloading lost bit of a browse around and not a lot else.
I just "upgraded" to IE 7 and its fucking wank and slow and hardly loads up.
I have heard of morzilla- I know nothing about it, I'm not techy in anyway with PCs...
Can someone give me a spot of advice...
Thanks

I've tried pretty much most - IE6/7/8, FireFox, Opera, Netscape, Safari, Google Chrome - and the one I've stuck with is Safari (this is on Windows, not Mac)
I just prefer it's layout, look, feel, and speed. Most of the time it's more reliable than IE, but it does sometimes crash as I am running Windows lol) There are a few niggles I'm not hugely keen on, mainly some of the "normal" right click functions that are missing/different, but on the whole I prefer it

I run XP, and i have IE and it is wank!! Get hold of Mozilla and run that, its fast, and more secure, have a look at their website, the benifits outweigh the negs.

I've used Firefox before but after a reinstall Internet Explorer 7 was on my pc and I haven't stopped using that ever since.
It works well with the tabs, IE8 should be a big improvement too according to Microsoft.

I just dont get you guys moaning about explorer crashing and freezing all the time or enough to give you problems. Im hooked up virtually 24/7 to the internet at work and home and its pretty rock solid using IE.
Working for an IT based online training company with literally tens of thousands of machines all on IE ( and all being used by people trying to bend the rules!) with very little problems i fail to see what the problem with IE is unless anyone can explain? We tested Mozilla FF about 6 months ago and it was nowhere near as stable so we never went any further ahead with it.
I'd suggest making sure your machines are clean and tidy with good AV and frequent spyware checks and remove any non necessary programmes and extra toolbars etc.

i prefer ie myself. mostly for compatibility.
if you're using Google Chrome i'd suggest you take a good look at the licensing agreement you accepted (unless they've changed it) as early versions had sections in the agreement relating to rights that I wouldn't eb happy with at all!

As a web developer, I can see that Firefox is a far superior browser to Internet Explorer. If I code a web site correctly, I can usually guarantee that I will look prefect in Firefox straight off. Then I have to 'fix' it to make it look right in IE.
Technically, Firefox is far more advanced - it supports the CSS 2.1 specification fully and has implemented several aspects of the CSS 3 specification already. Internet Explorer is regarded as one of the worst browsers in respect of CSS support. To put it simply - IE is holding the internet back!
Internet Explorer is notoriously buggy - but I don't mean that it will crash often - I mean that it's support for web standards is buggy - the way it displays web pages is just plain wrong - and web developers like me have to spend hours working out hacks to get pages to display correctly in IE7 (and often I just don't bother with IE6 support, as it can be too time consuming).
Internet Explorer is in my opinion much slower to load and display pages. But I guess you can expect that - it is far more 'bloated' than Firefox. IE7 is 14Mb download, IE8 is 16Mb an Firefox is only 7Mb. So what exactly is all this extra junk you need in IE? It sure doesn't make the broswer work better or technically superior, lol .
I have used Safari on the PC for testing - it is technically a great browser, but I find it really slow and resource hungry.
So, in summary, use Firefox every time IMO

I got Dual Bot set up on my laptop, i can use either Vista or Linux Ubuntu.
For general browsing i prefer Mozilla Firefox in Ubuntu. For a few other bits and bobs and using Photoshop i use IE on Vista.

if you can revert your internet explorer 7 back to the 5 and download firefox.its much more user friendly, doesnt crash and theres some pretty funky things you can do to it with plugins. ie uses up wayyy more ram which slows down ur pc etc...firefox runs smooth with no problems!
