Default any FTP experts on here please

I am sorting out a small section of my website, and have uploaded some files via FTP, the first time everything was fine, however i messed up a bit of the site as some of it is a SQL dbase and i am still relativly new to SQL lol and thought it was easier to just delete the main files and re-upload however since then i cannot get what i upload to display, all the files upload correctly with no errors but when i go to internet explorer i get 500internal server errors or page cannot be displayed, so its as if the files have not uploaded, i have cleard my browser cache as i thought this may be a reason why, but its there something else i can check? as i am a bit stumped reallyers for any help

A 500 error means a script failed to execute causing an error. If you can't put the files back as they were then you need to debug the code by putting some error trapping in there....

a dodgy setting in the htaccess file can cause a 500 error like that.
