do you have an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser?

As you say new battery, disconecting the suply can will make the immobiliser shut off the fuel pump!?

just a thought.

i dont think there is a procedure for the standard imob? the imob is controlled buy the key i think?

Never had any issues with mine, and it was standard imob.

Really difficult to say, prob something really simple.

have you rechecked all wires are where they should be, and double checket the new ht leads are all secure and fitted in the right order.

Is your escort the big turbo model.I would check the 3 black electrical plugs near your pas bottle. Also check your phase sensor inside the dizzy cap under the creamish colour cover.Your water temp sensor might be faulty too.It might be overfueling your engine that much that its causing it not to start.
