Friends don't let friends roll on Rotas. They are really dangerous. I have seen several rims snap while cornering.

I have seen Rota wheel's "arm" snap during cornering on road tyre!!! It's only down to driver who instantly realised what was happening that it did not end in massive crash.

I've run a few sets of different style of Rota on various different cars... guess I've been lucky that mine have stayed round and in one piece.

Only other episode I've seen of failure was on an Evo 8, the spokes were still attached to the hub but the actual rim/tyre had come away.

Cheers,
Grant

That's what I was thinking mate, it seems all to 'equal' to be twisted from sheer force!?

A very neat bend if it's been done by power, if you know what I mean...

Alot of pro drifters use Rota wheels. Driftworks sell them and use them on their drift cars. I've never seen this problem with them before.

I said that on another forum and it could be a photohop of a different wheel not the same wheel?

There big in the honda scene to and used on a few track cars with no issue. People seem to really disslike them but most the time it looks like badge snobbery

It is a different wheel, the markings under the wheel on the bench and where the writing is on the tyre is different.

It looks like a Rota Subzero alloy.

I also thought that it would snap, however, wasn't sure that if it was being used on track and being subjected to MASSIVE braking heat... it wouldn't possibly cause a bend rather than a snap?? But even then I'm not convinced thats possible, its bent quite a bit and all the spokes have stayed connected, surely at least one of the ten would have come away from the rim after being moved so much??

Cheers,
Grant

EK4 turbo with 500hp and Toyo R888 tires on Nordschleife
Lucky guy if the wheel had broken he would have been in massive trouble more pics http://minds-farm.blogspot.com/ look at the second picture down it shows a side on view of how much the wheel has deformed. I've also seen pictures of an elise with the rota's and 888's that had bent 2 wheels so much they started hitting the brake calipers. Again could have made a nasty accident...

From the pictures, a different wheel... the location of the weights on the inner rim is different.

Err, no, not really!

Usually when something circular goes out of shape it often bends all over the place does it not!?

EK4 turbo with 500hp and Toyo R888 tires on Nordschleife:

I have a similar style pic of my own wheels post Nurburgring, running R888s and 320 bhp:

Cheap wheels = messy if used properly. You get what you pay for. Mine were "Finalspeed" wheels, one of millions of cheap Eastern wheel brands.

My Rotas with 265 wide tyres on didn't deform or move at all on my last Combe track day and I'm very happy with them.
