Well it would be down to the mapper to eliminate that problem, but yes its just one of many difficulties that you would face, and all for no real gain anyway.

Its just a silly idea really.

Ive heard the saying "the truth hurts" before, but I never realised that in your case getting called a hypocrit and having it pointed out you were misleading your customers would have you so upset for so long just cause it was all proved to be true

No. Why? Simple. Most modern OE systems based on systems such as the TRICORE system cant be live mapped, negating their use for engines other than those they were designed for originally sadly. It is virtually impossible to write an accurate calibration for a totally different engine to the one you have a base file for and get all TEN THOUSAND calibrations correct. That needs emulation.

We are in fact spending a great deal of time and money on one specific form of ECU at the moment, in fact, your mate Guido is helping me out with some translation from German to English this weekend. We should know all we need to know about that system by Xmas this year i expect and will open up a nice Niche in the aftermarket tuning arena as we did with Weber all those years ago. We all need a sideline to detract fro the drudgery of daily business don't we?

Thats the good news... for me.
The bad news is, its an EDC. So all you have to do now is guess what EDC means to figure out why its BAD news.

Yes, where as worsened eyesight from masturbating of course hinders you seeing in the dark (vision in low light conditions will of course be even more adversely effected than in good light conditions as a result of a deterioation in sight)

ok can any1 tell me If a cheaper ecu- dta or omex, is better than a L8?
They come with more toys- closed loop, launch control, ALS, dizzyless......
But are they as good/better than the STD ford management?

I have level 8 ATM but want all the toys and if I add them to my current ecu it will end up dearer than buying said new ecus.

I don't think its worth changing an L8 for aftermarket unless you have a mad spec?

Stus LC/ALS/Wasted spark are all easily enough fitted to the L8, plus you need no mapping, just a fuelling check to make sure everything is ok. If i can fit it - anyone can

I'm fitting a DTA S60 into my mates car at the minute and to be honest, while is not hard its a ballache to make everything look pretty, working out what way to route wires etcetc. the it needs mapped.

Fair enough the s60 has a lot of extras on it, but not enough to warrant changing to it if you have anything less than a spec Stu can do an off the shelf chip for...

I'd love a play with T6. Omex, Emrald, Gotech are the ones ive played with and are pretty poor for a road car imo. I've got MS on my s2 purely as i like the development aspect. It's running a totally std 1600 on Greys at 15.5:1 idle. There are something like 8 maps and tons of switches for the transient fuelling at the moment which means 100+ hours mapping really.

Rick.

Alex,

yea sure is - not one ounce of trouble. Few mods like proper peak and hold low impedance drivers plus digital ignition drivers, but they're really only for experimentation purposes

If you dont want to map it yourself, L8 with all stu's toys is a good option.

DTA and Omex are ok, but not "finished" by comparison.
