Fastest ever quarter for a UK FWD car on road legal tyres????
Anyone know what it is?
Whats andy nichols current best time on road legals?
What about hodson with the mk2 golf?
Any other really quick ones out there?
Some of the vauxhall lads want to know how far they are off the quickest ever pace with their cars? (fastest vauxhalls are running 11.5 and 11.6)
One for the redline lads perhaps, as they must be familiar with most of the fastest ones?

I have the following saved for some reason but that highlights times
James Hodson, of Jabbasport, romped away to a 10.66 second pass to claim the title as the fastest FWD ever to blitz the sticky tarmac at the Pod.
James set a blistering sprint. His 60ft time, an indication of how well a car is gripping and launching - as well as the drivers reaction time - was a neck snapping 1.5 seconds, while 60mph was dispatched in just 3.3 seconds. The Jabbasport-fettled 1.8t engine retains a relatively mild street tune, including the ubiquitous Subaru derived IHI turbo and standard internals, to produce no more than 360bhp. Racing slicks, trick suspension and a 50bhp shot of NOS rocket this ballistic Golf to the finishing line

i remeber a twin engined golf, going well years ago.
but i also remeber reading about a guys fiesta rs turbo, Sunny Kahlsa, or was this a high speed machine.
i also think who gonna say if they was road legal tyres or not.

I don't understand why the Vaux boys don't use slicks.
Bit silly, there is something there which is cheap that can make a hell of a difference to your cars time.... yet they don't use them
You don't get extra internet willy waving points for road tyres.

i kinda agree chip, but what do you get for been the quickest on road tyres? nothing been the quickest in general is surely alot better even if it is on slicks

So you would rather be upto a second off the potential of the car, just so you can say you run it how it goes on the road?
Even though places like pod, the surface isn't like a "road" is it, with all the additives they put on it. Might as well use a tyre that takes advantage of it.
Seems a rather primitive attitude.
TBH even with slicks they would not get near Andy Nicholls time of 10.2.

None of the vauxhalls lads I know of compete in any drag series where slicks are allowed, they just do run what you brungs.
I guess for internet bollocks posting about how fast you are the slicks would help, but they arent really into that much anyway IME.

They keep beating andy on treads, but you might be right about slicks, I dont know, or care really, and neither do any of them so far that ive seen, as they all just want very fast road legal cars.

On the road you have to be road legal, so your limited to what tyres you run.
When your not on the road you can run what you want.
I bet the vaux boys take headlights out. Same thing IMO, not legal for the road, but fine off it. And they only do it to make there cars faster.

Anyway, if you want to start a thread about what tyres you think people should run for a quarter, feel free to do so, but if possible I would like this one to actually be about quick road legal cars as per how it started.

Best time was 10.2 @ 138mph, I've video'd the run and put it on youtube
He was launching in second gear and was running drag slicks, car is Taxed and MOT'd so still road legal
Car was missing badly on the 10.2 run do to blowing the spark out as we had fitted a MSD ignition system the week before, since then this has been sorted out
Car will easily do a 9 sec pass if it all holds together with the new spec, just had a full rebuild after snaping a rod at Pod a few weeks ago

So, your threads should remain on topic, but the ones you comment on usually go way off topic, usually down to the amount of arguing the toss that you like to get involved in.
Double standards anyone?
I feel that in light of this, it is my civic (fwd on slicks) duty to post a load of argumentative bollocks that turns a good thread, that may interest a lot of people, into 4 or 5 pages of shit that nobody enjoys, and would result in chip filling an entire page with one post full of quotes from other people, and his answers to said opinions.
As it happens, i am a car enthusiast, and as such, i like to read about things that interest me regarding cars. In particular, i have purchased a 1982 chevy camaro, complete with a 5.0 v8, and i also have a rather large truck turbo sat in my shed, so when someone posts a thread with a similar setup/way of doing things, the potential information for a conversion is huge. And the fact that the thread was at the 4 page mark the last time i looked, would indicate that a wealth of knowledge could be contained in said post.
But all i could see was a couple of pics, and then a load of fookin argumentative, post quoting, thread ruining shit.
If it really is so trivial chip, why bother with it? Can you appreciate that some people come on this website to enjoy the knowledge that can be found on here, and in some cases will influence the way people go with their projects.
