ok folks got a idea in my head and dont know what to do ,
as some of you may know im about to start my cossie powerd series two project,
only problem i have is whilst being down at jackos unit today , one of the units next door had a corvette ls1 powerd rx7 down there ,
it sounded fooking awesome , and after chatting to the bloke , the all alloy motor knocks out over 400 in standard guise, aint overly expensive , and pretty bulletproof
so my problem now is that i dont know wether to build a 400+bhp cossie motor to go in the car or to buy a low miler ls1 motor ship it over along with tremec box ,
arrghh they both have pros and cons ,
opinions .input and help people

job done, dont need to fanny about with engine managment either-
http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/En...1225&engCat=ls
costs about 5k IIRC
or you can get a ford windsor v8, stroked to similar capacity or more, fully built with an aftermarket block etc, good for 1200bhp+ with forced induction, for similar price.

stav the reason i thought of the ls motors is the bloke couldnt praise them enough ,
i know u know alot about the windsors etc ,
just thinking it would be a little bit different , to to norm , and with my driving , a bulletproof motor is defanatley needed ,
is the ls3 smaller than the ls1 -2
the more i think the more i want,
he paid 2 k for the motor and box , and it had only done 8000 miles,
and got it overnighted by a contact and through customs etc fr another 300 quid ,

surely the bulkhead will have to be moved back to fit it in, not and easy task I know I have had to do it!
just stick a yb in there the shell is modded to fit it so will be far easier to do as a first project, don't try and go to deep with the first one..
another been there done that from me lol

lol alps i know what your saying mate , pound for pound there probably better engines ,
all im saying is thay im either making it a v8 , to be different and stand out a little , or its going cossie power ,
they are the only two options mate ,
question is , will the ls1 motor be compact enough to fit in a mk 4 bay without modding the bulkhead ??
anyone ??

Surely you will have to mod the bulkhead due to the gearbox on ANY rwd conversion for it?

Beefy are you still on with this project. I would say a cossie lump cause im a ford man through and through but i do like the sound of V8. It will be different too. How heavy are the corvette engines, would the weight effect the handling.

I've had YB powered and V8 powerd Sierras, the YB was fast enough but kind of an all or nothing event
It's down to personal preference at the end of the day, a small engine you have to rev to get the best out of or a big one that sounds like thunder and does not have to work too hard.
