hi ive just put my amp in my car and its not powering up. ive got 12v at the power lead at the amp, the earth is good and the remote is showing earth with the head unit off and on, im wondering if the remote should switch to positive with the head unit turned on . the rca leads are also ok and showing earth at the amp.
Ive just bought it (new) and am just making sure ive done everything correct before i contact the company that sold it to me to get a replacement

Make sure the 12+ is straight to battery (fused), the earth is straight to chassis (must be a good connection both ends) and yes, the remote wire should show 12v with the head unit on.

Yes the remote should switch to 12v.

You can quickly test the amp is working otherwise by bridging a wire across fromt he live to the remote - the amp should turn straight on when you do so.

the 12+ is straight to the battery and has a fuse within 12" of battery. the earth is on clean bare metal in the boot and has a good connection and sorry is the remote meant to negative or positive with the head unit on

Head unit off = remote wire dead
Head unit on = remote wire 12V

Do as XR Si says- as a test, put a small wire from the 12V+ connection on amp to the remote connection.

REMOVE the remote wire going to the amp 1st tho!!!!

If your showing a negative i.e. 0 volts @ the remote wire when the head unit is switch on then your amp will NOT turn on! Sounds like the remote is not connected to the correct wire behind the stereo, which as stated above is the blue/white or blue wire.

borrowed one from my dads boss 2nite. will get one at the end of the month. £5 sounds a bit cheap tho. im training to be a mechanic so will probably get a slightly more expensive one that does everything i need for auto electrics
