Anyone here had there car set up by T@M in colchester?
Got my car booked in next thursday for a tune up as ive finally got everything sorted on the car now and have the fund's! Im hoping for as near on 200bhp as possible as dont want to go to high as need it to be as reliable as a rs can be lol! Just wondering if anybody on here has had their car set up there and if they were happy etc with service they got?

I didn't realise they set cars up down there. I thought they just did you a power run and that was about it. My friend had his car there about 7 or 8 years ago and all they did was give him a printout. Things may have changed since then though.

From what i have gathered, Ray the guy that runs it is good with carbs but not much else. He is very old school.
Unfortunatly there are no decent rolling road operators in Suffolk at the moment.

As Garage 19 really, Ray is excellent with carbs and all things old school, but he has set up several chipped RST's that I know of and one very fast Nova Turbo, so you should be fine!

Cheers guys just wanted a little info as im not alot to watch it being done would love to see my car getting dyno'd as would make it worth the while i spent building the engine and saving up for, should still be good once its done though, hopefully everything will go well.

Took my xr3i (k-jet) to Ray. He let me watch, walk around the car etc and generally hassle him whilst he was setting it up so don't know why you've been told you can't watch?
Good honest service imo (even tho it ended up showing up my bottom end was fooked )

i had a mate take his kit car there last week cost £85 to be set up, reckons he was on it over two hours and took the carb apart 8 times, changing jets etc we are talking a 1360 x flow i think making 100.3 bhp but the service was gd and his car runs much better. ive taken mine to him before to sort a fuelling problem, that was an rst, he even came to my house to look at the car, (does know my uncle tho!!). im sure he mentioned having tuned up some sort of amateur rally car (not wrc!!!) but all in all quite helpful good service

I spoke to some other bloke who works there (not ray) but reckons i cant watch as the insurance would be out the window? I will try asking ray when i take it there on the day if i can watch as i love watching anycar on the rollers and love the sound! plus it will be alot better than standing outside twiderling my thumbs for god knows how long it will take to set up.

im very friendly with ray.he is spot on but can only do fwd or rwd. he is pukka with carbs but can do any thing.he has se up my s2's in the past and lots of others i know of.he has also squeezed a silly amount(round 260bhp i think)from an A series mini engine.no bullshit!!
he did my mi-16 205 and got 175bhp from it with only air filter and exhaust.
ray is spot on if you get him at the right time.if he isnt too chipper just leave him to it and dont hassle him at all
he will say whats what and will tell you if something is shit so dont be upset by it if he does. oh and they all call people babe down there(male or female)its an old skool thing not a gay thing
he knows me from motormania as thats where i work.delt with him for 15 odd years now.
shame he dont do 4wd

Yeah i can understand that, im like that at work would rather just get on than have a customer there in the way so to speak, but would be good even if i can just stand in the background but will have to see on the day aslong as the car gets done properly thats all that counts.
