Default Fiesta Zetec S (1.6) fuel economy

Just been asked a question about the Mk4 (2000-2002) fiesta zetec s.

Whats the likely average fuel consumption on one of these? Assuming its driven "normally" ie commuting, not track days!

Anyone got one? What they like day to day?

Would imagine driving sensibly and conservatively i.e. no harsh braking or acceleration you could have that around 30mpg in town +/- 5mpg. Should easily do 30mpg imo if my 1.8 focus can average 24.5mpg with K&N, exhaust, decat and bluefin with the occasional blat here and there.

You should be able to average more than that, surely?

I know it isn't great but it never has been for some reason. It is decatted though so it does run richer. I drive around town most of the time and it is circa 25mpg. I get about 30 on a run on the motorway. Just how it is.

I can get 300 miles to a tank from day to day town driving and thats with a panel filter and catback exhaust. Even when im giving it the beans i can still easily get over 260miles to the tank. The most i have got from it on long motorway runs is 350miles to a tank and that was driving like a complete granny.
