I called up to ask for a pair of trailing arm bushes for a vectra, and a pair of rear anti roll baf drop links.
After explaining for the third time that I wanted the round bush for the front end of the rear trailing arm, and not the one for the rear end of the front wishbone he tells me theres several different bushes. Well duh, of course there fucking are, but theres only one in the front of the trailing arm!
drop links he had in stock, "long bar with a balljoint on each end" no, thats the fucking front ones, again! I know from being in there, the front and rear diagrams are on different fucking pages!!!! aaarrrgghhhhhhh

I'm impressed by knowledge of a lot, but guess they are just sales people, not mechanics etc.
Phoned BMW for a new vnc control unit, to be told my car didn't have one.
Told him it did, and he said no got two technicians here shaking their heads.
I was obviously making it up...

I dont have intimate knowledge of every car going, but I can listen attentively and I know how to reference a bloody parts catalogue, its hardly rocket science!

Mate you seen some of the diagrams for parts?!
Some parts take me hours to find on realoem, can be in the most unlikely places
But know what you're getting at.
I always get numbers off realoem and give them them.

Ive spent enough time int he place that I just wander in and use the parts books myself as its easier than waiting for some eegit to come and make a balls up of it for you, so I know exactly what the book looks like, and the bush layouts are on opposite pages, theres a drawing of the basic layout with pics of the bushes and the numbers tagged to them!

i asked for the boost pipe that linked the intercooler to the rest of the system
"whats a boost pipe?"
"it's the pipe that goes from the turbo into the end of the intercooler and then there's another one that's exactly the same that comes out the other side of the intercooler into the inlet of the engine"
"you'll have to bring the old one in as i can't understand what your talking about"
went in and said "here's the reg, this is what i want, find it for me" and job jobbed
