Test drove this Bad Boy yesterday
Not a ford, but a car which commands respect. Im sure some of you will be interested reading what i think. Others may not. Please go to another forum page lol
RIGHT
What a fookin beast.
I mean WHAT A BEAST
5.0 V10 Twin Turbo, 527bhp or 580PS whatever floats ya boat. + alot of torque
Intially at low speeds its very docile and easy to drive. Ride is firm (in sport) but not as bad as a coupe bm on 19" runflats, even though the RS6 wears 20" rims with 35 profile tyres all round. They are not runflat i believe.
The car pulls like a train. Drives very much like my mapped 335D but without that enormous shove you get bottem end on a the diesel. But there is no noticeable lag with the RS6 pulls well from low rpm. It really is not comparable with a mapped 335d obviously. Te RS6 is somewhat faster than the Audi R8 which i drove a while back.
The RS6 acceleration is mental. SO RELENTLESS.... jus goes and goes... Its a weird kind of acceleration, does not feel rapido but jsut so linear and the needle does swoop round the clock..
I would say its faster as an E60 M5 to 100mph but the M5 feels so raw and the SMG smashes through the gears. The RS6 just ''melts'' through them as if they are not there.
Its a totally different experiance and power delivery to the R8 which is loud and peaky.
The RS6 with its abundance of torque just goes at any rev at any given speed.
I got upto 150kebabs per hour (lol) in a short amount of space before i had to brake.
Very stable at speed and would comfortable sit at that speed all day long.
The brakes are pretty pheonominal. The thing stops on a 2 pence piece literally.
2.2 tons she weighs but the brakes eat away at the speed like a fat kid devours cake.
The interior is sublime, looks and feels expensive, the leather very much like the nappa out of the current M3 but a harder leather. Somewhat better than the Dakota in the ''cooking'' 3 series models.
The steering is very weighted at high speed which i liked, but stupidly assisted at town speed. Feels weird changing so quickly from one to the other. Something you would have to get used to.
A highly accomplished car, one i feel very priveledged to have drive at some ''pace''.
80k is alot of money for a big estate car (saloon not out yet) But for some it will be worth it.
Only 400 coming to the UK also.
I loved it.

Fantastic Review, I absolutely love these cars and would have one over most things. Not a fan of the wheels though. What do you think of the Build Quality compared with BMW?
P.S Jealousy gets people nowhere!

Thing is Benni, with Audi, BMW and Merc is you can buy a VERY basic car. With nothing. So spec is a big thing.
My 335d is very well spec'd and is lovely inside. But the 80k Audi's RS6 interior was swisher. It felt very expensive for sure.
The leather was better quality for sure. The whole ambience was far more ''special'' But then again id expect it to feel that way for that price.
To compare with something of a similar value, i would say there is nothing in build quality between the two marques.

I've noticed that when Speccing up an Audi S3. Some of the things you have as an option are standard in my Ford Focus. The car can soon become expensive when you add all your toys.
Are your family buying an RS6 mate?

ok, just to throw a spanner in the works and repeat like an old scratched record.
it looks like a very smart car, and it goes very well, "faultless" some might say but is there nothing really that makes it stand out from any other audi bm or merc? my thing (and its getting tiresome) is that there is nothing that "stands out" anymore. like the whaletail cossie... the lotus carlton... escort mexico.... lotus cortina.... of course they were all in their day, but they had distinctive features. thats why new cars bore the shite out of me
sorry....

its MEANT to NOT stand out!
The before who buy these cars don't JUST have an RS6.... 99% of them will have a mental supercar in the garage as well!! and sometimes they want a subtle, spacious and comfortable car... but they still wanna be able to go FAST.
There are LOADS of new cars out there that stand out if thats what you want!
Carl.... did you launch it?

It is completely different as i described earlier. The R8/RS4 engine needs to be worked as there is precious little torque below 5k. Needs stoking heavily and redlining to get anywhere fast which is more fun dare i say it but not as easy to go quick. The RS6 has so much bottom end it just needs a quick flick of the throttle and it goes.
The torque delivery of the RS6 is very linear.
you clearly have NO understanding WHATSOEVER of the type of people that the Audi is marketed at!!

Awesome.........Looks like BMW have a true competitor to the M5.
I love both of them and I'm guessing there's not much difference in build, performance, and all in a four door/five door saloon that'll whip the arese off most supercars.
Big advantage to audi is obviously the four wheel drive.
BMW Supposedly turbocharging the next version of the M5..........but at least Audi and BMW are producing cars for true petrolheads, which is great news and will give us something to look forward too on the second hand market when they're about three years old and affordable to us less wealthy. When is Ford going to do the same.

Very nice cars. prefer the older ones styling and think they could have been a touch more bold with the styling, whilst retaining the sleeper image

I wonder, how much more time it'll take the Audi engineers to realize that a huge V10 mounted in front of the front axle compromises the handling a tad...
Is the kerb weight 2.2 tons? Bloody hell, so actually it's not much faster than a stage1 Cossie from 20 years ago? Only that the Sierra will handle much better with modern suspension upgrades as it hasn't got a freak layout like the Audi and only weighs half as much.

Love it.
BUT. and its a huge BUT... silver wing mirrors are gayer than elton john's wallpaper.
Seriously - its not a 1960s MG so why have chrome mirrors? Especially ones that are so obviously plastic anyway...
Dont they have some weird leccy diffs that can alter drive to the wheels depending on the conditions?
At 80k I'll wait 10 years til they're old hat before I buy one...
