Default Zetec Stage 3 Head work?

Ive got a 1.8 si escort mk6 cab and i want to send the head of to get stage 3'd ported + polished and i want to buy a set of stage 3 cams and a 4branch+decat.

Wheres the best place to go? Also want to get it remaped at the same time.

I can fit the head etc myself then drive to the garage to get it remapped which isnt a problem to same money on fitting

Ive also go a FiestaRS1800 cylinder head, is it worth using this to get ported+polished as it has bigger valves+ports etc already or will it cause problems with sensors etc?

Im in manchester so prefably in my area

thanks matty

It is a waste of time unless you loose the standard inlet. The standard 130ps spec cams are good for 160 bhp. The standard head is good for about 180 bhp. Unless you bin the standard inelt you will be lucky to get over 150 bhp no matter what you do. Plus a ECU remap will not be good enough for your changes either, you need to go afermarket.

Tuning the ZETEC is not like the older engines. You have to do it in the correct order or you will spends £££££s for little or nothing. If you do it right you can get excellent gains per £.

Check out www.dunnell.co.uk for ideas but rememember there are cheaper ways of doing it.

yes i could easily drop a cvh turbo in it or a rs2000 engine but it means taking it of the road and its my runabout so i want it to be reliable more than anything

the engine in it is sweet as a whistle so dont want to waste it.

cams and head work will keep me happy

If your goal is to create a flat, slow engine, then yes you will be very happy.

oh lighten up

cams and headwork arev okay, but as said already, pretty pointless unless you throw some carbs or TB's on. its easy power

gsxr1000 carbs are 46mm tapering down to 42mm iirc, you can pick them up for £100 or so, then throw some MS on it and you'll have gained more power from it than doing the head while spending a similar amount of money.

if u read the topic ud see i have a spare rs1800 engine id use the head off....

there aint half some sarcastics cunts on here..

all i want is a reliable engine what has a bit more poke that what it does now. i dont want a rocket ship to get to work in or a car with a engine thats worth more than the rest of it.

i was thinking of tb's, yes you can get them cheap but the management is more costly

first port of call, is buy a after market ecu. make it good one so you can use it on other engines. very good investment.

chuck some TB and a good zorst. you will get good gain from these mods, then do head and cams.

after a bit, as you need to rev the fuck out of it to get power you will chuck a rod out the side of the block.

then the big expense starts
