The T4 is a whole size bigger than a T3, and a T3 is a whole size bigger than a T2.
A T34 is a compromise between the top-end power of the T4, and the (relatively) low-lag T3, ie, a hybrid of a T3 and T4, hence T34. A T34 is basically (for the sake of argument) a T4 at the front, and a T3 at the back, so you get the top end power of a T4 but without the low-end lag of a T4.
Hope this helps a bit.

New Thread....
Has a t34 the compressure side of a t4. Not sure about that. Would i be right to think that the exhaust side of a t3 is the same as a t34 in basic trim.......would that be a .48 trim maybe????????????????.................. I know its a bottomless pit this one but something i wont get my head round til someone bangs the nail on the head.

A T34 generally comes in three flavours: .48, .55, and .63. The .48 is basically the same turbine housing as the back of a standard Cosworth T3 turbo. It also gives you the least lag, but top end power is better with the bigger .63 and .55 ones..
I don't know if the front is exactly the same as a T4, but I'm sure it's different. Hopefully someone else will chip in with a better answer for you.

20K+ Super Poster.
T34 is large turbo escort size NOT T4, the T3 compressor housing can be machined out to accept the T34 trim wheel, and can use the .48, .55, .63, housing as needed/wanted.
The actual CORE(bearing housing) is the same on T3/T34/T4.
