You'd be shocked how many so called law enforcers don't know what they are doing. I have been asked not to park on double yellow lines and ticketed in the past for doing so when in actual fact I am legally doing nothing wrong because I own a disabled badge.

I've seen members of the public take it upon themselves to be smart and tell me to move. Ignorance at it's best.

Car as it was (imagine car on other side thus allowing a clear car or emergency vehicle to pass through with ease)

Car as PC4952 would have me park it (again imagine a car opposite as is usual but neighbours are on nights this week, car would not pass nor would emergency vehicle and adamage would be done to both vehicles parked in the road)

No argument IMO. if pc plod had used common sense, took a step back and looked at the situation like a decent traffic officer would have done there is no question that the biggest obstruction would be the road not the path!! as it is now and was at time of advisory notice there is no obstruction in the road or on the path

try explaing that when some lowlife is sueing you for an injury....

this world doesnt use any common sence anymore mate

i can clearly see your point of view, but can you see how it could be an obstruction? nomatter how stupid you have to be to walk into it, someone could twist it and use it against you.

Yep common sense is gone i agree and yes i can see how you deem it an obstruction but surely so is a lampost and a pillar box and a green telecoms panel box, crikey i even have a gas pipe sticking out of the path that bends into my lower bricks(you can see my next door neighbours supply pipe to the left of my front door in the first pic)....biggest trip hazard ever in the H&S brigades eyes!!!!

just really bemused at the whole thing and very wound up.

The problem is that if you park on the pavement effectively you are blocking the public right of way for any pedestrian on foot so therefore you as a car are an obstruction to them on the pavement that they are walking on

By all intents & purposes your road is bloody narrow & therefore (as you say for the last 7 years) common sense has prevailed & you have been fine & by parking on pavement road is not blocked - however for it to be a problem now either someone has officially complained to the council about the parking in your road or the council themselves are going to be introducing parking restrictions hence the advisories - sadly you see this all too often whereby older houses with no off road or garage parking are being told they cant park outside their house - well where are you meant to park then

Unfortunately at the end of the day you have been given an advisory for causing an obstruction to a pedestrian footway, which you & your neighbours have done - regardless of common sense with regards to not blocking the road for vehicles instead you're blocking the pavement to pedestrians - problem is if you all stop parking on the pavement & block the road the council will probably put up parking restrictions down the road instead so effectively you're in a catch 22 situation

In my old place i used to regularly park on the pavement outside my house for same reason as you & 2 years was not a problem - that was until the day i got an advisory for damaging council property as every time i had pulled onto the pavement i had driven over a water manhole & it was deemed that me doing that for 2 years had caused said manhole to crack & sink & i had to pay to replace it

unless there are markings on the pavement to allow you to park there, you will run the risk of gettnig a ticket each time you do so

i have been to martins number of times and would nt even dream of parking the correct way there is no way you could get down there with vehicles parked correctly it is tight now and you have to be watching what you are doing all time when driving down there and if you meet an coming vehicle your fucked

but i think they have got you by the short and curlies mate and i dont think you have got a leg to stand on
but i think if you go down with pics tomorrow morning they will say yeh we understand but then that twat of a copper will probably leave a couple of months then he will be driving down there and think theres that golf parked on the kurb again fixed penalty time

what a bunch of fuckers, they really got noting better to do???????
it is the councils fault for not making the road wider or not making a car park for u all that you have to park like that,i have to aswell,i live on a service road, you used to be able to park no problem, then they stuck a fucking bus lane in and now u have to park on the kerb, whos fault is that then?

Been to the cop shop this morning and asked for the officer to pay me a visit one night this week, they were ok at the front desk actually and i didnt swear, although i did say some things that werent very kind about police work and what things they should be looking to act on in my street rather than a parked car.

Lets see whether the officer in question actually does get in touch with me.

She came to see me Fair play i say, she gave me a full explanation as to why the notice was put on the car, basically there has been a complaint from somebody 3 streets away so they have had to do the whole estate to scaremonger people and make it look like they were acting on it, she has assured me that as long as my car is left where it is now ( same place as yesterday ) that i'll be fine and wont be ticketed

She was fit too and when she asked me if i had anything else to ask her i asked her if she was single

happy now and have a bit more faith in the plod than i did last night.

Thanks to all who posted......even the negative ones!
