You know how you can hear a change in the sound the engine makes when the car is coming on boost, is this as audible on something like a scooby??

It shouldnt be more or less audible on any kind of engine, purely down to exhaust and inlet silencing, not engine.

Not just that, when any car comes on boost, it will rev a hell of a lot quicker and sound more "raw". There's a scooby in my local area and can always tell when it's on boost simply by the rumble it makes whilst going up the revs.

Turbo cars usually sound more raw on boost as the wastegate opens, meaning much less silencing effect of the turbine, which is what gives turbo cars that wolly muffled note compared to raspy n/a cars.

Internal wastegate cars that have very little in the way of exhaust silencing can sound pretty much the same as a screamer pipe'd once hit full boost for this reason.
My old cossie used to prety much double in volume once it hit full boost for that reason.
