Default got offered a s1 today

c reg v clean car all bar a couple small surface rust scabs which are easily sortable, underneith is good too, boot floor v good, its had a batt tray all fitted nicely but twats had undersealed it and a bit on inner wing so that needs taking back and painting, all easilly do-able tho

loads paperwork, interior i would say was v clean no holes etc, all in all quite a nice looking old thing certainly not a shed atall

bit of a pain starting sometimes, needs little throttle if dont get it right it wont fire, sometimes once you get it started might not idle until rev it, the meatering unit was changed receipt was there so whats the opinions of possibilitys?

i do have diagnostic gear with the 3 plug ford lead but there too old for that arent they?

when running its bloody spot on v quite all bar the big exhaust, quite impressed me looked v pretty

no mot but not a prob as have a workshop and a ramp

1500 quid and its mine

opinions?

£1500 is a steal by the sounds of things, and someone on here will know how to solve the problem

to get it fired i just popped bonnet took off cone filter pressed the flap in metering unit down a small bit and got mate to turn key fires instantly so spose cant be too much prob wise

1500 quid though i wanted to give a grand for it but he wouldnt have it, just gotta decide weather or not to put my name on it, id pull it straight in and do the couple locals on paintwork then i expect it would just sit on the driveway doing fook all lol

boot spoiler paint cracked but spose thats the norm hardly notice it

Offer £1250 and keep haggling till both he and you find a price that suits both of you.

Do you need/want it though? if its going to just sit on the drive doing nothing then you could always fix it up and sell it on in a few months time.....

buy it, the engines are a right pig to start if something is amiss somewhere; example they dont like starting with oil filler cap off

had a similar problem on a s2, could of been complete coincidence, but the oil dipstick had no rubber sealer, replaced that and it started first time every time

well i bought it....
he had a fiddle with it other day and cleaned all the breathers out seems to be a lot better, although from cold needs to warm up for a minute before it idles properly but spot on otherwise

drives a dream really nice not too bumpy either considering its lowered, stacks of history 12 owners tho, but then spose it is 22 years old

i put it on the ramp and its quite gfood underneith, chassis rails etc spotless, couple prev places on front corners of floor but all in all not bad atall

it has got a couple small marks, but v minor surface bubbles, one by window pillar and one tailgate pillar and one bottom door, ill prob do them as piss easy to do some muppet done a great job of fitting batt tray and a weeny bit on inner wing then undersealed it fookin pleb, so now ive got to get it all off scotch it clean and paint it, so figure might aswell paint underbonnet struts etc and slam panel bits and make it look real nice

but even still for a s1 ive seen people pay 2k for ones a hell lot worse

mind you if was offered a profit on it id let it go
