As We all know, the current focus st competes in the hot hatch group of cars,

its rivals are mainly the Golf Gti, Megane 225, Astra Vxr, Civic Type R, Seat Lean cupra.

It does quite well against them, it may not be the best handling but in a straight line its the fastest to 60 and to 100.

Now the new RS is coming and its fwd and 280bhp.

But what will it compete against? The new evo and impreza are unlikely as they bring 4x4 to their group.

So what is it to go against?

With the limited information currently available from Ford I'd say it will be the same market that the current ST is in tbh, so pretty much the cars you've listed

I believe Renault are meant to be releasing the "ultimate" megane some point in '09 & it is also being unveiled at the British Motor show same as the FRS

Once Ford release more details of the overall car may be able to get a better idea, but at the moment really same market as the Focus ST i reckon
