Mad Max
This car was originally customised by a young man called Murray Smith. A film company executive spotted it on his driveway and thought it would make an ideal vehicle for a new film being produced: "Mad Max". The car was purchased and Murray was given a job on the film as mechanic. With further modifications the car was used in the original film and in its sequel.

I have wanted the Max Falcon XB coupe since i was about 8-9 and first watched the film. Sad thing is a still want one now, shame it will never happen.
As for the car above that was driven by one of the mob boys in the second film, bloke wore a face mask IIRC.

There are indeed a few in the UK.
My brother had a matt black XB coupe for years. Cream leather, big block v8, stupidly loud side pipes, etc
Sold it to someone in Switzerland.

My Coupe!
Just bought this on Sunday, its a 1972 (tax exempt!) XA Ford Fairmont, with a 5.8 litre Cleveland, C4 auto, 9 inch diff and a whole load of rust....
I'm going to get rid of that awful bonnet, and put a later XB model front end on. Can't wait!
