£45 an hour isn't too bad I don't think. You can save a good few quid by being able to do jobs yourself. I just can't be bothered most of the time so the car end up in SCC and I drink a hot chocolate whilst they get their hands dirty for me

true but they had 14 guys in the workshop and if you work out the hours sold (pure profit) everyone was around 120hours sold a month so 120 times 14 times 110 = £184,800 a month pure profit just from the workshop let alone sales parts etc...

£45 per hour is very cheap. Sometimes its easier to ask a price for the jobs themselves outright as you dont want to be paying them to answer the phone and scratching their ass like some places do ...... Just imagine paying £90 for an oil and filter change though

no basically say you worked 120 hours you sold that ( booked time) 120 hours then sold another 120 hours on top so say you did 120 jobs in a month and made an hour on each one ( for example a inspection service is booked for 4 hours and you do it in 3)
does that make sense basically they cover their overheads and make a very large profit! but the customer will still pay for a 4 hour service regardless of how long it takes you, that is why in a lot of main dealers you get come backs coz people are trying to hit bonus by selling so many hours a month and a lot of the time people cut corners, this is when things go tits up
