right got my ps 3 , went yesterday and bought a wireless router , but it has this dongle thingy bit which it recons is so you can connect games stations much easier,
so ive set it all up and i have a perfect signal , but it wont find the ps 3
it says something about this dongle puts software in ,i.e if you put it into a lappy it then finds the router and away you go , but wont do my ps , any ideas or can i get a gable , perhaps on a long extension as pc is about 25 ft away from tv

have you tried it without the dongle? all i did was told my ps3 to search,it found my router,typed in the password for the router and off i went.

go through the nerwork menu on the ps3, and scan for wireless networks

the 40gb PS3 isnt wireless, its only the 60gb one that is

I've got a 40gb one and its wireless.. I think you'll find its the other way round as my mate bought one of the first 60gb ones and his has to use a dongle...

They are all wireless or the controllers wouldn't work

As people said above go to settings and search for a wireless network.

The controllers are Bluetooth, which is a different technology to wireless internet

Both PS3 models have wireless network adapters and should work without a dongle.... what router have you got, and what broadband supplier?

Both are wireless, and yes the controllers are bluetooth which is different to wireless.
Mine when wireless picks up the router no problem, add in the password and your away really

Got bye a extension ethernet cable, (one that rolls bk up.) Shove it into the bk of the ps3 and away you go!!!! THATS IT SIMPLE. Wireless to mutch hassle reason being, the conection from router to the ps3 isent allways stable, and will course more "conection interupted"

So its ethernet cable from router to ps3 JOBS DONE. Then set ur account up and away you go.

and 4 the record mine is a 40gig with wireless and cotrollers are bluetooth.
