Taking my kids to Butlins in Minehead tomorrow.....First time i have taken them away since i split from the Ex-Wife.

They cant wait......And people say you have to go abroad to have a good holiday. When i told them we were going to Butlins they were jumping up and down.........

Anyone been??

The room was filthy. We didnt pick the cheapest accommodation either.

I've been abroad a few times with the family Tiff and I've also been on a camping holiday a load of times. Throwing all the gear in the D reg Ford Orion, meeting up with my parents friends and off we go with Madonna blasting. As a child all my best holidays where spent in this country.

Its pissing down with rain here (I live 19 miles from) at the moment, so I hope the weather picks up, luckly loads to do in there even if its wet though, so im sure you will all have a great time

As above the accomadation is a bit basic and not always the highest standards, your kids wont notice though as they will be havin too much fun, so providing you can turn a blind eye to it if you do get unlucky and get one of the rooms that hasnt been refurbed lately it wont be a problem.

Its good honest cheap holiday fun IMHO

And its also an awesome place to pull low quality slags if you go on the adult weekends, lol

Went about 20 years ago , was 17 and my first holiday away with my mates

Loved the water slides, i hope they still have them.

You also have the West Summerset Railway as well which is a great trip out

The kids are realy looking forward to it, so as long as they enjoy themselves im not bothered..........as me and the Missis are having our holiday later in the year

tiff i used to go butlins with my parents when i was a kid,,, the apartments never bothered me as a kid as,,,,, well we was never in them for long tbh !!!


there gonna PROPER love it, i may even book a butlins holiday for next year ( wanna take little one to florida this year with the way the exchange is)

If its anything like the Butlins Bognor, I used to go there to service machines

Take PLENTY of cash with you!! As the cash machines will all be surcharge of around Ł1.50 per transaction!! And everything is WELL expensive!!

But if the kids enjoy it I doubt you will give a fook (within reason )

Been to centre parcs before, that was good when i was a nipper, got a butlins near me, had to deliver to it for work now and then and its a hole but all the kids love it

was at butlins over the kids holiday a week og and didnt like it one bit, even the kids ( 13 and 10 years old ) didnt like it. The room wasnt very clean, not much going on, the pool was the only good point and we all wished we had gone back to center parcs lol

Have a good time mate, not much for adults but the kids should love it, we've booked a few days for August i just hope its not a scrote paradise.

Have a good un. TBH Tiff i cant see whats abroad for kids really! We are going to Palm Nova for a week in 3 weeks and its for US not the kids.

We went to a HAVEN caravan holiday place earlier this year and last summer, and theres loads for kids to do at these places! Will probably do both from now on, abroad for us and haven or butlins for the little one! Theres some good holidays to be had in uk...its just getting the weather! Cant wait while shes older to go on the broads

Agree. I never went abroad as a kid and i dont regret not being able to at all! Had some cracking holidays!

I reckon Butlins etc.. are excellent for the kids, plenty to do unlike a lot of spanish resorts. My brother goes to Lanzarote every year and his son(14yrs old) does not like it one bit, says its boring. I took him to Vegas with me and some of our other family and he loves it, went go karting, shopping, shows and a few tours and he is pestering me to go back this year again.

There's nothing better than swapping cars half way, I used to love that. I remember when one of the lads who came just bought a new GTi and he took his family in that and I was sat in the front of it, then we took off and I realised I was in his car for the journey. I still remember being amazed when he pulled out a CD and pushed it into the dash. I thought I was it... And then you arrive and see the other cars pulling in and you realise you are there, amazing.

In my opinion kids don't care about allot of the downsides, not until there parents drum it into there head anyway. I mean, the best part of my Caravaning holidays was when the I locked us all out the caravan, beast! Your kids will have a gear time Tiff, if they think your happy I guarantee you they will be.

Like people have said.......I never went on a abroad holiday as a kid, we just went to the seaside.....but the memories i have of that are superb.

BUT i was a little unsure how the kids were going to be, as when i was married and we lived as a family we always went abroad......So when i said i was taking them to butlins i was worried what reaction i was going to get off the spoilt little brats.............But there faces lit up. That was enough for me.

I just hope they all enjoy it, as i know it isnt really and "Adults" holiday.......but i like the kids to enjoy themselves....

Like i said, me and the gaffer are off to Turkey in august then Antiga early next year hopefully

Went there last year spent half my time in the bar and the other half in the swimming pool and the accomodation was ok tbh have a good time
