I was really after a mobile mechanic. When I had my Renault 5 I had someone who worked for Renault come round and sort bits for me. After the same type of thing really.

need some wheel bearings replaced. I have been to MAD to get it all mapped but was after someone local to be able to come to me for the service type jobs that I can't do.

ScoTTyBEEE 24-10-2004 04:19 PM

Are Fords not very expensive?? I tend to find people who do private jobs are quite a bit cheaper, and do a better job.

yeah but tuning firms are not always cheep too tbh, as ya paying for the EXPERT advice and knowlage

i got me oil changed with the AA at work and it cost me 42 quid plus a 20 quid synthetic upgrade charge, my sump is 6.4 litres and i got the filter included in the price too

was actually cheeper to get them to do it

oh adn back street mechanics can also be dodgy, there was a guy on here a while ago that got his car worked on for a elcetrical problem, the removed his alarm and his car was nicked 2 days later :(

not the same firm they used to be, never thought they was all that tbh :(

ScoTTyBEEE 24-10-2004 09:26 PM

won't take it to power, used to go there with the scooby and it doesn't get much more expensive!!!

Walked out with 500+ quid bills too often!!

I am going there for a rolling road day on Sat though with the scooby club. Pop down and have a look. Show em how it's done ;)

As for wheel bearings not being too hard, tried to have a look at one today, 2 hours later and 1 broken socket I gave up. Couldn't undo the bolts. Took me an HOUR to figure out you screw the piston in on the calipers to change the pads, I had made a press and everything to push the damn thing in!!!
