how much does it cost to change a kitchen sink?

got a plastic one in at the moment, with matching mixer tap, but it's starting to stink

so we want to swap it with a normal stainless version, basin one side and the washer thing on the other and get rid of the current one which has that little bit int hemiddle with a smaller sink on the side with the drainer board ont he side of it

and new mixer tap

so, how much for the lot? bearing in mind we just want something that will get rid of the smell and do the job rather than having it all singing all dancing ( because i'm waiting for the extension to go in as my mate does granite for a good price, seeing as he owns the company )

london prices please, not outer hebridies ones that will cost me a sheep and some gravy thanks

can you nolt just DIY ?

its only a couple of screw connector fittings to remove the tap and a few screws/bolts to get the sink out the hole, providing the pipework has isolation valves fitted.

Before we moved (2years ago) I got a sink off the web and the plumbers time was a couple of hours as he also had to cut some of the worktop too. He also replaced a bath for us. Can't have been much more than £150 inc the sink

my mrs has said that i need to pay someone to do the job, which is why i'm asking

but as long as they aren't going to charge an amr and a leg it could be done for top whack of aorund £150, assuming they get the sink and sensible taps etc yes?

I dont know where you lot get your prices from..........

To supply and fit a half decent SS sink and mixer tap i would charge about £260

Sink- for a decentish one about £60
Taps-For a mixer tap that wont fall apart in 5 minutes about £100

Labour for it would be half a day-£100

You get what you pay for and i would NOT be buying a cheap shitty sink and taps

so scrap the £150 and think more along the lines of £250 yes?

and i know what you mean about the mixer taps, we get the cheap £20 ones and they last about a year before something goes wrong and they leak form the base or from where they pivot

but make sure you get a sink thats the same size or bigger cos you dont want to replace the worktops,im a kitchen fitter it would take me half an hour to fit the sink and plumb back in providing :sink is same size and the pipes were on isolation valves, go to bxq they sell sinks and tap combinations for about 100. and i would charge no more than 80 to fit and plumb it in,find a kitchen fitter thats your best bet mate also try screwfix direct.hope this helps mate

some people i've asked say they' fit what i supply
some say they will supply and fit
i was thinking about finding the sink that i want and then telling them what combo of sink and tap i wanted and they'd be able to get it cheaper due to them being in the trade and/or recommend a better version of said sink/tap combo for our requirements

but the sink is on the worktop in the middle and there is a bit of cupboard underneath that can be moved, no units of the like to get in the way so simple as anything, but the mrs wants someone else to do it as she's seen my diy skills and doesn't want to be without a kitchen sink for a month while something else i chop off grows back again
