Yep when i was 13 lived in swindon, and theres a place called lawn woods which is a big wood with a couple of lakes in the middle,an old grave yard on either side and a few paths threw but only ruff graveled paths, the woods started at the top of old town an were about a mile long going down towards the estate where we used to live.
All my m8,s used to live in old town and to get home the woods were a short cut by half an hour, at night they were pitch black no lights in there or fook all,we all new about this supposed ghost there witch was a little drummer boy.
At 12 or 13 years of age you was still a bit dubious of things like this, any way won night i was late leaving a m8,s house so got on me push bike luckly i did have lights on but were crap and for those that are in there 40,s wIll no the the bike was a raliegh chopper pmsl, anyway got to the entrance to lawn woods and thought fook it ill go threw as its all down hill, the path is very windey and at the bottom is a sharp turn and a big ditch ,Im about half way down and can just about pic the path out in my piddley light,Then i here drums and thought FUCK so peddled faster then i can remember feeling really cold ,i then caught sight of a small figure lent against the tree just to my right i absolutly shat myself!!!!!!! i bet a chopper has never gone so fast i peddled like fook so much so i forgot about the turn at the botttom bang i hit the bank lept the ditch and crashed to the ground ,i landed 25ft out of the wood the choppers frame was snapped in two places and 2 scafoids were sticking out the back of my hand ,took me an hour to drag the remains of my bike and my self home boy did i get in trouble ,still got the scar on my hand to remind me......andy

atmospheric recordings in time being played back when the conditions allow it.... seeing gostly figures ect.. sometimes up to hundreds of years later... think about it.

we all live on a big film reel lets say... all we do has to go sumwhere the past happenings will be stored sumwhere... and sometimes they get played back.

this is not my theory but a speaker at a mensa meeting i went to.

Similar kind of thing, riding through a cemetary at night on my pedal bike when I was 14ish. Pitch black and it went really cold. I heard something which made me jumpy so I pedalled like fook and there was a path at the bottom of a short hill what joined the one I was on and this figure of a bloke was moving towards my path at a rate of knots and I shat myself and went for it. As I went past I glanced up and saw nothing but I just got out the gates and glanced back and it was standing where the paths met. I kept going flat out till I got home. Aint been back in since.

I used to work in a paint and wallpaper centre and we had a paint mixing machine that we used to mix coloured paint,we had to fill the pots of colourant manualy so it could inject the different colours to the paint, when the machine wasnt in use the nozzles had a valve to stop them from leaking colourant all over the place. This one mornin i went in through side door to gain access to the store and turn the alarm off so i could open up.as i walked to the paint machine to switch it on i noticed blue colourant all over the floor, but what i noticed next sent shivers up my spine???????

Babys bare footprints leading from the spillage on the floor!!!!!!!!! They walked round the main front part of the store but they were gradualy getting fainter and fainter until they dissapeard, needless to say it wasnt a very nice experience but workin there for forteen years i had plenty more as i used to use the warehouse to do a lot of work on my car of a nite when we were closed and there was a lot of goings on.Not long after i left i found out it used to be a funeral home but they also held cremations there to.so that kinda answered my many questions.

Nothing as spectacular as your storys but in my old house someone called my name, I heard it, no one else was in the house!
Also my dad and brother went to work, I got up and the front door was locked from inside, and I was the only one there, it was impossible to lock from outside with the key in the lock on the inside!

seen shit all my life and it is all around you, if you want to see it.
Had too many things happen to say it is just random thing's that you see and are not there.
I'm not one of those people who believe in other bollocks but what i.ve seen was really fucking worrying.
Our lass has seen and felt first hand what is there.
Forget all the bollocks you see on telly it's not like that.
It's quite sobering in a way.

Ive had a lot of shit happen to me too, sumetimes i feel like the kid from the sixth sense lol.I grew up in a haunted house my brother used to wake up crying every nite at 7.30 on the dot,my mum would always go upstairs to check he was ok,it got like a routine for her she would even start walkin up the stairs before 7.30 coz she knew as soon as it hit that time my brother would start crying and sure enough he did every time.she would go in to his bedroom pick him up and he always pointed to the corner of the room and sy 'tell the woman to go away'.My mum eventualy found out the house was owned by an old woman who died there in her sleep,so she just put it down to a friendly ghost watchin over my brother. There was a lot of strange goings on in that house for the 30 years i spent living there so i cinda got used to it.

Love stories like these!

I've started to go "ghost hunting" with a couple of people that have been doing it for years. Not seen anything yet myself whilst out with them but they have some good photos opf previous trips, videos and a creepy sound recording from a cemetary that clearly says "please help us".

I WANT their to be proof for me and I believe all the stories, I just want to know myself for sure!

I'm not sure it can ALL be totally discounted as skeptics try. Fair play to those reading this thread that don't believe at all, I wish I could be that narrow minded!

and PMSL @ the fella that did an Evil Kinevil on his Chopper

Thankfully, beliefs are almost entirely subjective and more often than not, based on distorted versions of the truth or indeed totally made up.

Really? Do you think so?

The human brain is such a complicated organ, and operates in ways that some of the celeverst minds in the world cannot fully explain its function.

But when you "see" something strange, it MUST be a ghost, right?

And I'm the idiot!

Show me one piece of categorical proof of paranormal activity, ghosts etc.... just one.

Just as clueless as those people who go "ooh, look, orbs on my photograph!". Yeah, cos it couldn't be miniscule dust particles........ it must be ghosts".

Thousands of years ago people thought the earth was flat.

Hundreds of years ago people had no idea what electricity was or how to use it to our advantage.

100 years ago we had barely a comprehension that everything is made up of tiny charged particles.

Hell, 5 years ago I thought there was intelligent life on THIS planet before I joined PF....

But by the same token of you saying there is so much of our brain we don't understand, multiply that infinitely and think how many more dicoveries man has to make about the world around us.

I'm not saying I believe, but I want to because I have a bit of faith [and blind hope possibly].

A similar faith to all those billions of people around the world that share different kinds of faith. Unless they're all stupid too? But that's a different discussion because I personally think most of them are

something could result in anything.... how can u think that say maybe we are the only people in the universe? gotta be more. where have all these ancient story's come from? do you really think some idiot over a 1000 yrs ago woke up one morning and said i know, i think i'm gonna invent something called a ghost today to scare all my mates. Even some of the worlds biggest lies are based upon some element of truth. Fair play, some of the story's are a whole load of crap and can be scientiffically explained, but the ones that cant.............. what do u put that down to????? the same scientists that "solved" the othe cases cat solve these? you have gotta be so narrow minded not to beleive in the slight mystery surrounding it. you see something then you'll beleive it. how straight cut is that?

So what you are saying is that everyone who may have seen something out of the normal.... is all down to having an over-active brain.

My mate once came face to face with an apparition of an old lady in his old terraced house at the bottom of his stairs. Go tell him that he was imagining things.

As kids we used to play on mi mate's farm and some of the land which was normally ploughed over and used for wheat growing had a well on it, we'd found all sorts in the soil up and around near that well.. clay pots, pipes, and all manner of things. What possessed us to go up there in the fog was something else but after seeing the outline of a horse and rider wearing some sort of cape and hearing the horse champing on its bit was enough for us to never go up there when visibility wasn't good again! It wasn't a bridle path and no one of sound mind would take a horse over a ploughed field... especially in that weather, knowing most of the horse owners in the area too they would have made themselves known to us if they knew us.

Proof isn't something that's available with stuff like this, we don't all walk around 24/7 with video equipment strapped to our heads.

Actually, yeah I DO believe someone COULD have done that... to keep the masses under control by giving them religion and the belief in life after death.

But again, that's a different discussion entirely.

What has being the only people in the universe got to do with ghosts or the paranormal?

I'm not narrow minded at all, but I'm hyper-critical. Give me one example of a paranormal event that has yet to be accurately/conclusively explained away by science, and then I will take a closer look.

Paddy - so you don't believe in god and religion, yet you do believe in ghosts? Did you know Santa Claus wasn't real too?

I didn't say I believe in ghosts! I said I WANT proof to be able to believe.

Same that I want to believe there's a God.

I have faith!

And a Father Christmas would be pretty cool too, fuck it I'll have the Easter Bunny and a logical woman whilst you're at it!

Yes, of course I could tell him he was imagining things.

The brain acts interprets things that the eye sees as an input. Now it's very possible that a combination of factors can cause you to see things that simply aren't there. It only takes a minute chemical imbalance, tiredness, stress etc that can cause this kind of thing.... at it's most extreme people can suffer horribly. It's a well defined occurence.

Now be logical - what is it more likely to be? Easily explained medical occurence or a ghost? Seriously........

And I disagree. I can't personally say there's an event that can't be explained away somehow, but isn't that the point of science? To explan things and find out how they work?

Can you categorically say that one day mankind may not have a properly established and universally accepted paranormal science that deals entirely with ghosts/apparitions etc.??

The same way that hundreds of years ago, physics was scorned apon with new discoveries marking people out as heretics?

You can't claim science can prove anything these days as everything is "theory" based anyway, take the ozone layer and global warming, all theories with no solid fact behind them, even einstein's theory of relativity has recently come into disrepute due to new findings, yet millions of people are willing to accept it as fact because some guys in white coats say so?

the original post asked "has anyone ever experienced anything they couldnt explain??"
i dont think the intention of that was to start a endless discussion about if theyre fact or fiction just for everyone to share experiences

End of the day it is down to what people believe!
You can see something and say well yeah that was just a shadow and it be a 99% certain guess. But then someone else could actually see what it was and actually say yeah that was a figure moving.
As for it been a load of bollocks the people who say that dont have any grasp of reality and that life is not black and white, i bet your also that small minded that you believe that this is the only planet that can support life even though nasa have found life on other planet's but that's so way out it's also bollocks.

I used to live over in south west london (putney) there was a short alley way that lead from putney park onto a road called briar walk, there was a disturbance and a dispute on briar walk one night which ended up with a geezer being shot with a spear gun, he managed to get as far as the alley way and that is where he fell and never got up again,

I used to have dogs as a kid and when I would walk them late at night they would all freeze, stare down that alley and bark like mad, proper angry like with the hairs on their backs raised, I swear they could see that fella in that alley way, as they say animals have the sixth sense,

when i was very young thought there was a ghost in my room, was forever running down the stars into the livingroom whare my dad would tell me ghosts are not real back to bed you go!mum or dad would then stay till i was sleeping or let me fall asleep on the couch.

BUT one night same story i run out my romm fly down the stairs untill i get to the last 2-3 steps and i cant go any further no matter how much i lean forward, somethings holding me back but not with hands if you know what i mean.
managed to pull myself around the stair post and jamp THROUGH the glass door(not glass, one of those very 80's orange tinted perspex doors).
i dont remember much after that but mum and dad said i was frantic!

also standing outside the front door and a tile slid off the roof and hit me on the head, whats the chances of that!??

now in later life i have heard voices in the cupboard, seen the silouette of someone standing at the bottom of my bed and woke up in bed but couldnt move a muscle!! all these were caused in my opinion by way too much booze etc over too many days(bootleg whisky at Ł5 a bottle half filled with methinol most likely).

I once saw a clairvoyant.... and she told me things about my family past, about my present, and about different happenings in my life that she could never of known unless she had some sort of source telling her.

The things she was telling me couldnt of been found out on google, or on any other search engine or in fact by any means.. as a lot of them were secretive to myself.....

explain that?

I beleive in the paranormal, there is something about not knowing everything, and having faith that makes life so interesting, beleiving in something doesnt make someone an idiot.

I havent yet i dont think lol

but my Cousion Runs a Pub called The Red Lion just outside Swindon, some might of heard of it from the TV, its rather Famous for its ghosts story's. She tells me, she hear alsorts of things...even talks to the ghosts at night lol
Anyway me & my mate was coming back from my seeing a few friends in Devizes & you have to pass the Pub to get into Swindon....anyway coming back one, it was very late, nearly 2am iirc. My mate Drives past the pub & tells me he saw a figure standing in the middle of the road (2 kids were killed on the Road, outside the pub). I thought i was gonna shit myself when he told me. He tells me he has seen sometihng similair in the past at the same place...Now everytime we pass there, i always have a good look around lol!

Spooky as im typing this..... i have the PS3 on in the Background & it says ''[blank[] is online'' & there is no one online
