every business will have some bad. it depends on the ratio of how many bad to good.

There shit, might aswell build the engine yourself. They built my 1.6 crossflow ,it was fucked after 1200 miles and they put it down to me not running it in properly  Also they said the engine would cost £750, it ended up costing me £1450

NOBS

mrjenrst 09-02-2008 05:10 PM

They're shit! Simple as. There warranty is not worth the paper is written on. Bought a re-con engine for the frst and it was shit.
Not gonna waste time putting down the numerous problem's we had with it.

All in all fucking cowboy's

bigad4x4 09-02-2008 05:12 PM

Only ever heard bad things also, will stick to my man Mr Fisher :DD:

bad boy rs 09-02-2008 06:08 PM

they are SHIT, built my low comp 1600 for my series 2 it cost me a fortune and lasted me all of 2000miles. They say they are built by professionals but they jus enploy a load of 16 year olds. Keep well away

philpy-si 09-02-2008 08:03 PM

Had work done by them a few years back, was never right and they weren't interested in sorting it, in the end they finally sorted it after I threatend legal action.... Wouldn't go there again.

OldDan 09-02-2008 08:10 PM

From their site -

"COWBOY FIRMS

Sadly they are not very obvious, as they don’t all wear Stetsons and Six-guns or call you ‘Pardner’!

Herewith are some tips on how to avoid them :

1. Join a car owners club , most of them will be able to give opinions on good and bad companies (see our listings)"

Thrush 09-02-2008 08:27 PM

Luca 09-02-2008 10:59 PM

Depends what you want them to build really.

if its a race/track engine then NO
if its a every day runner with no tune then fine

Again bollocks

My car is an everyday runner and the 1st head was cracked between the bores, 2nd head was for an N/A CVH and the 3rd head i had to get machined as it wasnt perfect.

Did anyone read in Fast ford that Mr Fudge had his head done there then in a later issue he sent it off to someone else to do the work on it

When S/E did it Dan put a pic of it in the mag and it looked like it had just been cleaned up.

Bobby Singh 10-02-2008 09:09 AM

I must admit I did install a 1.9 RST SE engine (secondhand) in a FRST some years back and its still going strong - oh its running a T34 @ 20+ psi

one off good engine maybe lol

about 7-8 years ago i dealt with both for machine work. and would never deal with them either again.

Even tho they seem'd nice on the phone,
They both lie about stuff they are selling, charge for stuff thats not been done.

dojj 10-02-2008 11:28 AM

i rememebr a guy who bought an engine form them
firs the cam went in the block
then the dizzy pin worked itself loose
third time round it's been sorted but nearly everything they touch seems to be have soemthing go wrong with it at some point
