Buy a mint mk1 golf or keep 3 series?
Sold the cossie late last year as I was made an excellent offer on it. I then bought a very low mileage e46 3 series. The car is very comfy and reliable blah blah but I dont really have the love for it.
this little beauty has come up locally and I'm tempted to weigh in and get a shitter for running about???
Or should I keep the 3 series till after I get married in the summer and buy another Cos?

No, because I want that golf
I'd say yes if you love the mk1's though, such a smart car.
I had one back when i was 18, wanted a black one but couldn't help but buy the 1st one I saw so ended up with mars red. I absolutely loved mine and owned it on 3 occasions (sold it to mates and bought it back) over a period of years. I'd probably have it now if my mate didn't write it off.
Mine was riddled with electrical gremlins though, got home after I bought it and it wouldn't turn off. Found out unplugging a fuse under the bonnet (that someone had put in) would shut it off. If you ran the car without the fuse though the indicators etc wouldn't work and just glow on the dash.
Still loved it though and never pushed a car so hard through the bends since, it just seemed so predictable.

Yeah, just electrical. To be fair though someone had buggered around with it adding this extra wiring and stuff. My mate had one the same time and didn't have electrical probs like me.
The mechanics seemed pretty bomb proof. Even if something mechanical was wrong they are pretty easy to work on in the engine bay.
By the looks of that car it'll probably be quite 'sorted' I'd imagine.

No idea on it's value as obviously I've not seen the car or know of it's history. For Ł3k though I'd expect it to have documented mileage, some service history and fresh engine, no rust issues etc.

Looking at the prices... as I say I'd want some history etc for Ł3k.
At the moment it just looks like a solid car that's had a fresh coat of paint on the outside.
I'd be hoping for more then just a blown over car for Ł3k. If it's had a recent'ish rebuild and some history and other mechanical parts have been refreshed then it may well be worth Ł3k.

Yeah, as i say I cant have a chat with the owner till mid week. But it seems the engine isnt rebuilt, think it has like 4 owners, but provided it hasnt had a half recent rebuild then I would only be willing to spend 2600ish.
