do PC's have

Like a Master reset?

My New pc comes tomorow and thinking of giving this one to Dad. PC is full of crap etc, and might be some porn hiding here and there lmao. Plus its ful of spyware no doubt that aint been detected and other saved shit....

Can i like empty the computer or format the HD but leave just windows XP on????

DanRSturbo Jan 3, 2008 06:29 PM

Simply format the drive and reinstall windows xp, there's a step by step guide in computer discussion to repair xp, re-formatting it is along the same steps, however you will need drivers for sound, display, modem, network card if applicable and other componants if applicable.

As said do the format/reinstall but also once thats loaded fresh install a HDD cleaner like the one you get with PGP encryption or a dedicated wiper and give it a few good passes so all your shit is properly deleted. You might trust your dad but if he passes the pc on.....

Just formating and reloaded the OS won't delete it nor will recycle bin it just removes directory. Sometimes people can recover it hence why some peoples PC's ended up in Nigeria along with their bank balance.

Lee Reynolds Jan 3, 2008 09:17 PM

LOL at trust me Dad theres nothing on there WRONG  Might just be some porn etc...

Up the Spurs for a start :top:

Secondly, Lee, if you take the side of the case off, on the motherboard it will give a model number, Asus something or other, mines a k8v se deulxe :top:

Now, a brand like packard bell or dell will allow you to download drivers from their site.

What I would do is go into control panel, then system, then hardware, then device manager and click on the + next to each device and it will tell you what you have, write them down for referance after xp is loaded.

I can't tell you here how to get an xp disc unfortunately :(
