Car Identity Question DISCUSS
Right i've got a mate who has a 3 door escort that he's turbo'd and he says he's putting the car on an rs turbo i'd and that ford are doing it by stamping the chassis number off the rs turbo into the passenger side floor and removing the drivers side numbers,
Now he has said its also going through dvla legitimately (sp) he said he's going to tell them he's got a shell with no ID and they will let it go on the rs ID,
Now i've just said that this is surely ringing and they won't let him do it but he said i'm a dumb ass fool and its not ringing,
Also the car has no sunroof RST'S do surely this is very wrong??
SO AM I A DUMB ASS FOOL AND IS IT RINGING???
ALSO THE OWNER IS A MEMBER ON HERE AND HAS JUST GIVEN ME A LOAD OF ABUSE FOR TELLING HIM ITS WELL DODGY LMAO,
Lets see if he makes an appearance shall we.............

good luck....
Cannot really see that Ford are going to re-stamp a shell in the wrong place with a new set of numbers.
how can he tell DVLA he has a shell with no ID as it's plain to see in the CORRECT PLACE already. I'm sure DVLA will know where to look for the original numbers.
You're right mate. Totally illegal and should actually go on a Q plate going from the DVLA rules. Sure he'll love that.

isnt the best thing to do just to tell the dvla the mods that the car has???
surely thats the right thing to do isnt it?
Actually, if you mod your car obviously you have to tell your insurance company but do you need to tell the dvla? is there a special procedure???

Place your bets on whether he will reply NOW

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Refer him to the Government's own web pages on the subject:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...le/DG_10014246
Specifically, the bit that says "If a second-hand chassis or monocoque bodyshell is used, the vehicle must pass a an enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA) or single vehicle approval (SVA) test after which a "Q" prefix registration number will be allocated."
And the wee flap in the carpet being in the wrong place is always going to be a giveaway to any prospective buyer.

these are all the dodgy cars so if youre chassis number is like that, your car is probably a kit car, ringer, stolen recovered, has been under police investigation, was built from parts, or something else dodgy like mentioned etc etc

PassionFord Post Whore!!
When people talk about "FORD", it's important to remember that nearly every "FORD" dealership is an independently owned and operated business who just happen to sell and maintain the products of the FORD MOTOR COMPANY.
Back when I worked for FoMoCo there was only one manufacturer owned dealership in the UK and I think it was sold on a while ago.
