Default Noise test at bedford?

What does it involve?

Is it just static or is there a driveby one as well?

I was at the SIDC day when they wouldn't allow many of the cars to run. On that day they were doing driveby tests but with their drivers

That was a few years ago though so hopefully it's changed now.

Static when you drive in to the circuit, and there are three IIRC drive-by monitors on track.

Three? Im going to be backing off more on the straights than on the corners at this rate

Properly worried about mine passing, definately going to have to come up with some sort of "stuck on the back of the exhaust" type silencer

You can fail static... just gives you a Red sticker that helps them look out for potentially noisy cars on circuit. My Boxster fails Static but is fine on Drive by.... all bark no bite

No, he means you can still fail the static test and be allowed on track (if it is marginal failure), and instead of a green sticker, you get a red one, which means you have failed the static test. They then keep a keen eye on your car as it is out on track, to see if it trips the trackside ones, if it does, you are given three attempts to do something about it. On the third attemp, you are black flagged for good for the rest of the day and have to just watch .

That was quite an eventful day.... I was there too, remember though Paul that they also dropped the 87.5db down to 85db because of the way the wind was blowing.

It got so heated that day, that Jonathan Palmer even flew up in his helicopter from Sussex to try and sort it out.... then of course the infamous Bedford 28 made the headlines

Thats a shame as I wont be able to kick your arse around there.....

There are 4 drive by points at Bedford assuming your using the full circuit.

I get Red Stickered at the static everytime but have no issues out on the track. The 4 sensors are easily visible so just look out for them on your warm up laps. There are 2 on each side of the track which is good for me with a side exit as I can stay on full power past 2.

I'll install a couple of rudder plates on the back of my exhaust and get the passenger to point it away from them then

I was quite surpised mine was 97 static up the road from me on track last weekend.. Had one box removed in the summer due to issue with the box physically splitting when hitting bumps. so just made do with one.. bad idea. The car seem to be the same noise when driving though, not made a huge difference. But very loud when revving on the spot!
