Default Escos owners??

My nephew is thinking of buying one, it'll be his first cossie (GODBLESS HIM) he asked me what`s the maximumish ft.lb the gearbox can cope with, i said around 370bhp/370ft.lb am i right, or off the mark..

EXSCUSE my ingnorance, i've never had one so don't know a great deal about the 4WD Transmission...

to be honest Pete, it will break at anything over 300 imo,its just a matter of when.

i have had a few boxes last a good while at 350 and then some last a month or two.

i suggest buying an escos with an uprated box fitted to it already.

hope he finds a nice car.

they can withstand my 400 bhp car,but its how long it can last Pete as it WILL break.

i think at about 300 ish it will last a good while, but thats depending on the drivers mechanical sympathy and how good the box is.

yeah fraser`s esco,its 310bhp @wheels davie

stevie`s car is super low milage aswell

i suppose itsall down to age of box/condition
the driver
torque curve

i had 2 stage 3 4x4 saphs ,and alot of hard launching at crail in the dry and never had a box or clutch let go,both standard clutch and box
and both with quickshifts

although i did always get a slight clutch into 3rd on one of them when kaining it

but you never know how old the gearbox is,milage done etc
