Money no object ! Dream cossy!
after reading the money no bject dream garage thing was wondering if your numbers came up what would be the spec of your cossy!
Especialy intrested in what the tuners have 2 say!
Ive coped mike rainbirds over from the other thread 2 get it started!
1. Modification of all suspension to WRC spec, but made from Alumec instead of magnesium (due to fatigue problems, as Alumec is as stong as steel).
2. WRC active diffs and seqential FFD 6-spped gearbox.
3. 3 x T10 ECUs to run everything .
4. Dymag carbon wheels to lower unsprung weight.
5. Carbon roof to lower centre of gravity.
6. Carbon bonnet (painted white).
7. Have interior done in alcantara.
8. Car stripped to bare metal for full ground up restoration and rebuilt using replacement titanium nuts and bolts for EVERYTHING, re-wire car to remove anything unnecessary and to tidy up behind dash to achieve target weight of 1200kg and when rebuilding the car, build up and reinstall parts to achieve perfect weight distribution of 50/50 front to rear and left to right (with driver AND passenger).
9. Have floor plan re-engineered so it has a completely flat (carbon kevlar) bottom to aid down force / reduce drag.
10. WRC carbon rear wing / side skirts with camera built in and routed to screen built like rear view mirror.
11. Get Borg Warner to build me a variable vein turbo that flows 57lb of air (full boost from 2500 to 9000rpm).
12. Have a custom tall iron block cast (25mm taller), 93mm bore 82mm crank, 2225cc 1.93 rod angle and revving to 9000rpm, 600bhp and 450lb ft from 28psi.
Think that will do .

Still dont think the above spec cossie would hit 200mph at brunters, and purely because of that spoiler.
Id prob run it (along with the rest of the WRC kit) as it looks badass and wouldnt be arsed about it, but seems to go against the flat bottom floor mentioned, thats all.

Everything from that 760 hp Jenspeed RS200, in a 3 door shell.
(Including the BDA engine, which I know is not strictly cosworth!)
Or Rolf Klypen's 780 BHP Jenspeed 3 door.
Also I would rather have a box geared for ~ 160 and get there stupid fast than be able to do top speed. No disrespect to any top speed people, just doesn't float my boat. Midrange to be able to spank evos, porsches, astons etc does. In a 20+ year old ford.

And most the races ive had against REALLY fast cars often ended 160+ (clock speed) so topping out at that speed might not be a good look, esp as 750bhp+ going through the rear wheels means you prob wont have any grip till 160mph anyhow

I think andyg is just about to build it, but would mibi go ffd box with active diffs.
Or if it had to be based on an original cossie then a escos with front spaceframed to alow fitment of ava's twinturbo set up, ohlins shocks ,ffd box ,active diffs ,carbon wrc style body work and 19" mag centerlocks with 380mm 8 pot brembos front and 355mm 6pots rear.

The flat floor reduces drag AND increases down-force, so at higher speeds, it would accelerate through the air faster, as well as being more stable and pinned to the track with actual positive down force. The fact that my dream spec engine only produces 600bhp (approaching the limit of the Mountune roller barrel intake) should have indicated to you that 200mph top speed was immaterial to me (although the gearing and revs it would pull would give it the potential to do so with 150bhp more power ).
As to your comments about the rear spoiler, again as has been said, the WRC item gives more downforce AND less drag than the original . However, I believe that Martin will be the proof of the pudding with his 700+ bhp engine, as his is geared for dead on 200mph at just over 8000 revs .
My dream spec was for my own personal remit, which is a devastating track car that car be driven in (relative) comfort on the road.

Silly question, but why the 3 T10's? are they unreliable and you need to cary a spare?
And dont go for active diffs....modern WRC cars are now back passive....thank fook.....

I'd go for a standard small turbo Escort, remaining near to it's original power level, and have it over-engineered, so that the likelyhood of it breaking down is minimal.
It would be used as a road car so the brakes, tyres and suspension would be of a high standard and set up to compliment each other. The body of the car would be refreshed and stiffened (but not considerably so). Wiring would be renewed. Finally, a high quality ICE setup would be installed - just four good speakers and a one reasonable sub tucked away in the boot.
With that all done, reliable endless enjoyment would be mine.
