Highest power gained from standard cossie engine????
Ok, I was thining abut this the other day and to my knowledge i have never actually seen a proper post or article about this.
I'd like to know who has gained the highest output from a standard cosworth engine, and I'll apply a few simple rules so we don't get off track.
1) The mechanicals are untouched i.e uprated gaskets allowed but nothing else.
2) Standard engine management (basically jusy mapped properly)
3) No nitrous
4)Pump fuel only
5)Different turbos allowed, but std inlet manifold to remain and 4 injectors
You get the idea, oh and proof or as good as, No " I once knew this bloke that lived round our way that said his car was 50 million brake"
I realiise this might be pointless to some of you but to me it's not.

you could bolt on a huge turbo and make very high power at high revs but have a very narrow power band and it would drive like shit, so what's the point?

Yes I'm aware of that, but within reason obviously, the main idea is to actually see what is possible with standard internals and a "useable" spec on a road car. I realise this is a braod term but I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at......then again maybe not.

my engines a fairly good example of this head is only a low lag very mildly ported with 4x4 plenum but a pair of 14s. with a t4 you will need boost capping lower down but its only caped to 22 psi so still plenty of poke. revs to fly/power is 4k 160, 4.5k 220, 5k 280, 5.5k 320, 6k 370, 6.5k 420, 7k 460, 7.5k 472 and that was holding 30 psi from 5300 rpm onwards. and you can keep the car between 5.5k and 7.8k without hitting the limiter from 3rd gear on and the car will light up in second in the dry anyway. and as long as mapped correctly can be as smooth as any normal car.
dunno it that helps mate but there it is anyway

im well happy mate some people say its a compromise and i guess i could have more power in more of the rev range but is it worth the extra 3 - 4k absolutely not ! sit at 40 in the dry in second and hit the throttle and it lights up everytime so why have more and if you change up to 5th gear at 140 your straight back in at 6200 rpm 400 hp. its a compromise but it does work and it works well imo as a road car.

Oh and thanks for the replies about the specs, nice to hear what people have tried and tested on their cars.
