modified car scene
How do you see the modified car scene in the future?
how will styling and performance change?
will it even be legal?
that sort of thing

i think its become much more widespread and big business over the last 5 years, and as a result alot of the modding/tuning parts have come down alot in price. i remember paying Ł650 for a set of new 17s, now they can be had for Ł350-400.
more and more non-car enthusiasts now go and buy satnavs, car mp3 systems etc and it gets them thinking about doing other car mods where in the old days most people werent into it.
at some point the government might try to put the mockers on engines being heavily modded (like in belgium and some scandinavian countries) but if and when that happens, thats when i take the pills! or i'd just move abroad.
with the H&S and road safety laws in this country becoming so OTT it wouldnt surprise me if they eventually try and make it that any aftermarket parts fail the mot (seats, fibreglass bumpers, window tints, alloys, brakes etc)

Although laws will make engine mods harder to be road legal, the scene will move more and more towards performance IMO.
People are fast realising you look like a prick in a styled up shitbox and the only fun bit about cars is USING them.

its gonna be more accepted as the cars aren't gonna be as lairy and noisy as in previous years
alloys from other models of car of the same make are getting to be a big choice
manufacturer bodystyling seems to be the best route for anyone wanting 'a kit'
big silly exhausts have had they're day, and its not worth the hassle to have a noisy one, as the police just fine you
all in all i can see it getting better, ill post examples, and im using corsas as i have owned a few corsas, and i dont like the tag they have of being boy racer mobiles, i find them very cheap and good fun,
this is the old style,....
this is a featured corsa, 20" wheels, massive body kit, headlight and tail light conversions, lairy interior and paint,
then this is the way its going now...
this is also a feature car of a more recent time, irmscher (vauxhall factory option) kit, 16" wheels original paint colour and interior, but very very cean and very very nice
I like the way its going, and i'd choose the 2nd one

i think its an age thing these days as when your younger you try making a car look all fancy but when you get older your more into making it go faster & handle better & personally i reckon the best thing that can ever happen to the moddified car scene is more & cheeper track days & 1/4 mile as its getting most people that want to go fast onto safe tracks instead of streets

This might be of interest to you, here in Canada (Ontario at the moment) if the cops see and believe you car to be modified for street racing they can seize the car and destroy it, and they have! This might have some impact on where the car scene is going.
