Just Got My I Phone today!!!!!!!!!!
These bad boys aint launched until Next Friday 9th November but I work for O2 so got one today and man all I can say is
These are brilliant and simply a must have if you like i pods and having a decent phone.
The options available are immense and the quality is outstanding, battery life aint bad either lol.
Adverts are rolling out tonight guys so stay tuned to the telly for more info. If anybody is after one they start from £35 per month, as well as an additional £269.00 payment when you start your contract.
also if anyone is thinking of getting one on another network/unlocked I would say no as the software cant support any other sim and any other sims will corrupt the phone. (Not saying this as an O2 employee just it aint worth spending the dollar on to then find it goes t*ts up)
Anybody want staff discount

Im sure it has 3G net connection speeds
I must admit guys Im not a techy guy or impressed by fancy gadgets but this is some piece of kit.
Amazing touch screen quality and just stacks of applications, You tube at the touch of a button and even passionford.com lol!!!!!
Ive got two pics and a video on my N95 im just trying to upload it on here.
It is expensive but if you think of what some people were prepared to pay for the XBox 360 or PS3 then it aint too bad.
Just as anything else your paying for the name.

McDonalds, Costa, Starbucks etc etc
Can calso connect to a wirless lan etc but all in its a smart phone.
Slightly larger than what I thought but still quite nice.
Although if you feel like a new phone thats fancy but not gonnae cost you half the capital on your home
The LG Viewty is basically an improved version of the Prada.

The iphone is only purchased by the some geeks who like cool gadgets rather than functional ones, any tough screen hard to live with long term
The iphone is shit.. its a FACT... I work for a company located on the same tech park as AppleUK and socialise with their staff I have played with the iphone a great deal and Apple staff even think it is lacking
1) There’s no Flash, or Java for that matter; making watching web videos more a miss than hit on iPhones.
2) The iPhone camera is only 2 megapixel job, when you consider that 5 megapixel camera phones are now available and the other kind of flash and zoom is also missing. There’s also no secondary camera for self portraits unlike with most other phones
3) You can only have 25 different ring tones. You can’t import more or use your MP3s as ringtones.
4) The games... why Chess its the most graphics heavy game included with the iPhone; what was Pong too complicated?
5) There’s no third party applications allowed on the iPhone developers have to use the Safari web browser and AJAX to simulate them on the internet.
6) There’s no wifi synching with your Mac or PC, no video recording or video output, or microSD memory card capabilities.
7) The iPhone doesn’t support the 64 bit versions of Windows XP or Vista; facts Apple neglected to point out in their system requirements.
8) Even though the iPhone has a 3.5mm jack, it’s recessed in such a way that it actually doesn’t work with most 3.5mm headphones.
It's old tech, its exceptionally over priced, its very restrictive, its functionality is limited and it does nothing which is not done better elsewhere..
But if your going to buy it get it from france but your better off with the Nokia imho

Weve already had countless customers come in with "unlocked" phones that just do not work anymore.
When apple and o2 agreed to bring this product to the UK there was an agreement that it would only be available on O2.
Obviously I dont know the in's and outs of the agreement, but I would strongly advise anyone that wishes to purchase an i phone on any other network or unlocked to be careful as these things aint cheap and wouldnt fancy paying for repairs etc.
I know vodafone are "giving" them away as a gift on a £40 per month deal with a nokia 1100. The sims cards the i phone use are specific to O2 and apple. So the functions avaiable on a voda sim would be very restricted.

Lets be honest its shit. People will only want one and buy one because of the touchy, scroley screen thats it. All the rest on it is poor, 2mp camera and no videos thats before we even get started.
Tenner says a few more will get them on here then the rest will like the PS3 when everyone said thats shit. But by the time Apple bring one out that matches whats out now Nokia will have something else, that's when my wallet comes out.
Pretend the screen isn't there and what else is good about it? Oh well at least it still makes calls. (does it?)

Talk about irony... you mention this phone is only for geeks (i'm guessing your a tech pro?) then you go and list all the geeky features it's missing lol.
As for no PC support, who cares? I hate PC's to begin with and finally a phone that's made to work with a real computer is out and peeps start crying it doesn't work with a PC.
I think you can also buy games to work on the phone but I'm not really one to be worried about having games on my phone.
I guess you never heard of marketing? So many people are starting to buy Apple products that the next step is to buy an Apple computer. Why not, you can use both Mac OS and Windoz on it and it'll even run windoz better than a PC
You're also wrong about 3rd party apps since you knew so much about the iPhone I thought you would have know this?
The way I see it is, it's a computer company that made a cool phone that works. I'm just glad that my next phone wont be based on Microsuck mobile os.
I remember when the razor first came out, it was 1k pounds.

For those that are quoting all the techie bollocks I suggest you have a play with one. It isn't the techie stuff that makes this phone cool, it's all the little apple type stuff which you don't get on other phones that make it far more user friendly.
Dougie - what part of O2 do you work for? I'm the Energy Manager and DanS off here works in the cell design team

People are only starting to buy Mac's since they abandoned the risk processor and started dual booting with windows, its only the ability to have Windows and the software which enables them to do work at home that has largely effected the popularity of macs. Apple have stated themselves that 1 in 3 systems are sold with bootcamp which points to peoples wish to use Windows rather than Mac's... this is a shame though as OSX is far better
How am I wrong regarding 3rd party applications for the iPhone. The phone uses Darwin which is the BSD base also used for OSX and developers creating applications for this are unable to do so without using extensions linking it to the Safari and AJAX. Developers can not natively compile an application for the phone itself it has to be built onto AJAX... If im wrong tell me a third party application compiled natively for the iPhone that does not require AJAX
The iPhone is like all Apple products including the ipod and thats it is a design masterpiece, its coolness and style over function and features...
The only thing to come from Apple for many years which has more functionality than style is OSX and the reason for this is they never made it in the first place

Apple sell style, really well.. but lets not be deluded, technically its flawed and blatantly overpriced
The same however can be said for the ipod... there are better products available... but none as kewl
if your looking for kewl you found it

UnseenMenace you a man of my own heart, I will not touch anyting Mac, they have been bullshitting and selling over priced under speced goods for 20 years and the Iphone is no differant.
one good thing they are great at marketing, how the hell you can sell such utter shit to such a wide market is marketing at its best.

Everything shown on the adverts for them can be done on my K800i, and loads of other phones too, I really dont see what the big deal is about them!
Especially if they dont have all the stuff listed above, not even got 3G?!
I think Ill save my money...

That's your first problem, you fail to see... blinkered by windoz crap
I read it on a pc site somewhere couple weeks ago, when I find it again I'll point you to what they wrote. Deffo not deluded, I work with both and I know which one I chose to spend my money on.
You think Mac's have only become popular since it can run windows? you must be living under a rock LOL. Ever since Jobs came back Apple has been on the UP and UP and not looking back. Of course the MAC's are targted at Windows users, duh... they are trying to get windows users to switch and if they don't, they've already bought a Mac computer. Oh, I'm pretty sure Bootcamp is available with all the new Macs another big deal for Mac is that they sold 2 million copies of the new OS X in it's first weekend.
I'll have to get back to you on this one... LOL I just read that they are making developer kits available for third party applications if it's native or not I can't say, but unlike you said, 3rd party apps WILL be available.
Typical answer from a typical beige boxed wintel user. Sure now your new systems may have style but it wasn't until Mac's did it first that you followed suit. Besides, my comp HAS coolness, style and functions very well in fact, I'd say it functions great.
everyone steals from somewhere else.. biggest thief though has to be microsoft. You yourself can't deny it.. OS X IS better.
Like everyone here or around the world, we'll always have two different minds on what we think is better. So for me, I'll stick my Apple, you can stick with your Microsoft and well both get occasional no server found on Pf

Just to clarifiy......
The phone uses GSM (2G) and EDGE (2.75G, which is better than 2.5G (GPRS) but slightly lower bandwidth than 3G). TBH you wont notice the difference in most locations between 2.75G and 3G. Not forgetting the fact you can use wifi hot spots all over the world to!
I played with one the other day and the functions on it are superb! It certainly has that "Apple" feel about it.
ps. if you buy one your helping my cossie fund (in a round about way ).... what better reason do you need????

I played with one the other day and the functions on it are superb! It certainly has that "Apple" feel about it.

If you are trying to make UnseenMenance out to be clueless, then you have failed miserably!! All of your comments are factless and/or opinion!? Ok so you use both Mac and PC at work, and you have decided you like the mac more, so!?!? thats an opinion, its not fact. What UM is saying is fact, the iphone is SHIT for the money. Its overpriced and underspec'd.
As for windoz/microsuck, how old are you? Any argument you may have made, rightly or wrongly is invalidated when you try and use anti-microsoft slogans

You're also wrong about 3rd party apps since you knew so much about the iPhone I thought you would have know this?
The way I see it is, it's a computer company that made a cool phone that works. I'm just glad that my next phone wont be based on Microsuck mobile os.

If im wrong tell me a third party application compiled natively for the iPhone that does not require AJAX
3rd party developers...
