Default Piston Rings

When putting the pistons back into the block, what is the way the rings are meant to be set to?

Thanks

they should be set so the gap in the rings are oposite each other as far away from each other as they can be to reduce compression loss i hope u understand what im trying to say im not too good at explaining things lol

Do u mean so all 3 are as far away from each other or like the top one is at one side of the piston the 2nd one is at the other side then and then the oil one is sitting at the same as the top ring?

Of do u mean like a 1/3 gap between all 3 rings?

Thanks

Thats how ive been taught to do it that way it harder to loose compression

Gaps should be set 120 deg out from each other.
ie 2nd comp ring 120 out from top comp ring.
oil control ring 120 out from 2nd comp ring.

Hope this helps.

if you have to ask, do you really think you should be doing it yourself?

The place you want the gaps though is either side of the pistons, as its less exposed as the piston comes round TDC and rocks slightly, doing it your way, they cant be.

I take it you mean that gaps should be in line with the gudgeon pin? Surely piston rock/side thrust should be minimal due to the skirt.
