Default whats up with my dads car then

S-reg Escort estate(90k 1.6 zetec) basically he rang me up about 2 saying he saw steam coming from the engine so he stopped obviously, and then it wouldnt start so he waited abit then started it and managed to drive a couple of miles then when he got to a junction it cut out, then he drove it abit more then it cut out agian so i said ok stay there and ill tow you back, so i towed him about 5miles with a weedy rope about 8 feet long took us about 40mins but we got it back at least.

Anyway now its home its pissing oil from the middle of the engine and it sounds like a bag of nuts when its running

Does it sound like he's done more damage driving it? and also why did it start steaming? the temp gauge was fine prior to this happening he said and also it was serviced two weeks ago.........

Hes not stupid, the car is well looked after, checks all the levels every 2 weeks.
Like i said it was serviced two weeks ago aswell, fresh oil etc. ok the water wouldnt have been changed but im sure the water level would have been ok

My dad just told me prior to the steam the water level was fine, then he open it slowly and water pissed everywhere so he filled it back up.

i'm not saying he is stupid, but you said there was steam coming out from the engine bay, he stopped, then restarted it and carried on driving. So it is quite clear what has happened!

Is there any water in it now or has it lost it all?

Been on the phone to a mechanic and he said if the temp gauge didnt rise then its not a water problem, its an oil problem, hence the pissing out onto the road.

So we still thinking its the head gasket? and as i said when he started it it made a squeely sound and it really did sound rough and tinny is this what it would sound like if the head was gone?

steam is water lol
so its either head gasket gone and pressurissed the system to allow steam to come out

and as hes drove it again and then cut out is sayig im cooked lol

possibly warped the head

the rattling could be a number of things due to driving it with no cooling

but d be looking for another head at minimum and worse case another engine

check to make sure water pipes havnt split or rad etc awell

where abous is the oil coming from aswell?

well when we stopped outside my house(from me towing him) we got the car onto the drive and the oil looked to be passenger side or centre of the road, certainly wasnt drivers side near the white lines of the road.
whether or not you can tell anything from that i dont know

It's the noise I'd expect from trying to run a car with no oil in it as it's pissed all down the engine as you said above.
Has the oil filter come loose?

I think you can get oil in the engine bay if you blow a head gasket, bt the only one I've seen had it everywhere.

As ive said so many times the cars levels were all spot on, so nothing was ever running low/out.
We both know nothing about car mechanics so we will wait and see what the garage say next week
